As a buyer - what do you want cheap shipping or free posting ?

People boosting their p&p as fee avoidance annoy me so I would def prefer to buy something with a realistic postage cost.
Strangely, I listed several items with free postage and they didn't sell. I then slightly reduced the listing price and put the p&p in (the actual costs which was the same amount I had reduced them by) and they all went.
Kprigg, none of my business I know, but how can you possibly have saved £296 towards your holiday when you still owe £535 on your credit card? The interest rates you are paying must be colossal! _pale_0 -

No its interest free until Jan 2011.
Ive got 2 seperate jobs - one pays off to card & the other pays for the holiday. I prefer to save & pay off at the same time as it keeps my spirits up when I see my account in credit & makes me feel its all worth it.
Reminds me, I need to update it.0 -
Given that I use Quidco (40% of sellers fee credited to Quidco account) and eBay are giving me 1% back on my purchases via PayPal, I'd go for the P&P inclusive price as I'd get a better return.
I always do a 'cheapest Including P&P' search ordering when buying an item which is sold by lots of different sellers.
However, because the seller will pay a higher fee to eBay when including P&P, it's often not the most cost effective choice even when the cashbacks are taken into consideration. Then there's the fact that the Quidco can be hard to predict when you don't know what rate the seller is being charged by eBay.

As a buyer I would be more inclined to look at an item that was £2 with 99p postage (or £2.99 with free postage) than I would a 99p product with £2 postage. I realise there is no difference overall but psychologically I dont think I would want to pay £2 for a product that only cost 99p.
As a buyer, its also a rare occurance that I would look at DSR's.:smileyhea0 -
As a buyer I would go for the one that was ending soonest and if their feedback wasn't too good then move on to the next one - There is always going to be fee aviodance and (I don't btw, most of my stuff I post free) lets be honest, we all try to save pennies where we can (or we wouldn't have found our way here) so at the end of the day it doesn't really matter which we pay as both sellers would have to spend the same amount on postage and the only one gaining from those with £2/99p post rather then 99p/£2 post is ebay.0

As a buyer I tend to go for items that either are sent 1st class recorded or for larger or more valuable items by courier.
I never buy from people who send 2nd class or plain 1st, also I never check what the actual postage is vs what they have charged.0 -

Mainly as there is no guarantee that the item will arrive, I am more than happy to pay extra for recorded or a courier service.
If ebay traders cant offer me the service I want I got to a seller that can.0 -

Recorded is just normal mail with a signature at the end (which they don't get most of the time) so there is no guarantee there. The seller is responsible to get the item to you. If it doesn't arrive you can claim via paypal and you will be refunded. So paying more for postage doesn't give you any more protection
By paying extra for these services your paying more money than you need to. Thats just silly0 -

Absolutely! The seller / sender gets £41 compensation cover (100x the standard first class letter stamp cost) with a proof of posting - exactly the same as you would get with Recorded. Only Special Delivery offers enhanced cover. Recorded does more to protect the seller than the buyer. PayPal will automatically find in favour of the buyer if the seller hasn't used a tracked service.0
