Aww, poor little French student - I remember getting really homesick when I went to France on an exchange trip, it was rubbish. Sounds like he's lucky to have you as a host though as some people maybe wouldn't care as much or think of things like getting him together with his sister.
Good to see you back Cagne and Munchki!
Been shopping for the wedding I have to go to on Monday - took the two older kids, it was a nightmare- anyway I'm telling myself it's all superficial rubbish whether or not I can get anything that looks OK and I'll just go and bloody enjoy myself cos life's too short. Watched that Rough Aunties documentary, did anyone see it? It was about an amazing group of (mostly) women who help abused children in Africa. Made me think a lot about my priorities and the things I worry about.
In financial news, my grandma's house has gone on the market and I might be getting a decent amount from the sale which would just about clear our debts. We're looking into reclaiming loan insurance too. So that's good...sort of...you know what I mean xx
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

Paula that would be such a relief for you and such a lovely last gift from your gran. The weight that that would lift would be wonderful.
I didn't watch the programme but it sounds interesting.
I know I seem to be always psoting Christine Kane but this one seems really fitting for many of us in here who sometimes find it hard to do things when we feel negative about ourselves.

Hi everyone :) Good news about your grandma's house Paula, it must be both difficult and a relief at the same time. I hate shopping for weddings - i'm going to one later this month and don't want to go. The mother of the groom said something really horrid last time i saw her about someone close to me and i'm finding it difficult to forget this one. Also, i've never met the bride but apparently she's some sort of supermodel. I guess that bit's just me feeling inadequate.
Thanks for that link Jo - i'm going to have another read. She really is amazing. grrr :) Inadequate again! haha only kidding.
I'm so pleased it's Friday, it's been a long old week. So bad what's happening in Pakistan.

We're going to watch either Nanny McPhee? Spongebob or Alice in Wonderland with him in a bit - anyone recommend any?

Dunno if Nanny McPhee is a bit too kiddy and corny, not really funny unless you're quite little - where are you getting the movies from? Haven't seen Alice yet - what about Avatar? Haven't seen that either but meant to be good? And Em - I would kill to look like you....OK maybe not actually kill, but certainly pay...not belittling how you feel though as you could feel like that no matter what you looked like. I'm just a stupid lumpy shape with huge boobs and big thighs. One day I'll be able to afford tops from Bellissimo and PZI jeans (jeans for fat bums lol) - just not today. Is it really bad to wear black or grey to a wedding? There are very few shops here and I'm a bit stuck...and you could maybe just snub the horrible woman? Stick your nose in the air and as you do it think, ha! I'm snubbing you! Snub snub snub.
Jo, thank you :) and I don't suppose you know any blogs or resources that have ideas for communicating with a child who doesn't seem to care- we're struggling with DD1, she just doesn't seem to care if you take stuff away, or put her on a naughty chair, and I've tried changing tack completely and trying to bargain with her, letting her help work out solutions - but it's really difficult when she just doesn't seem to learn things aren't acceptable and does them again and again! Sorry for the rant, we've had a long day with her today and it's upsetting me as I feel like I ought to be able to sort this and just end up getting cross and tired out while being ineffectual. You just want to give them the tools to make a good life for themselves don't you - it's just so hard sometimes. Anyway I'm having an early night so happy dribbling everyone, big hugs :) xx xx

Thanks Paula - we went through a long list and he shortened it down to them - we leant towards NMphee as he liked that in French but we went for Alice as you can get the idea without the script. I don't think you'd kill to look like me lol - huge boobs sound great but i guess we're never happy with our lot. The horrible woman is OH's aunt so bit hard to ignore, but i'll try :) I don't think wearing black/grey is unacceptable these days - people often have weddings themed like this. Also a cheap scarf can often add impact/colour if needed. That's what i do anyway. About your daughter, i'd just say to persevere but i'm no expert. I think as long as you have clear boundaries and consequences then that's most important. Can't offer specific advice though as my children are yet to arrive! xxx Hugs xxx

Thank you lovely people :) I'm getting my hair done in a bob-type cut today so was thinking of getting one of those hairband things to brighten it up a bit. I can wear Mabel's earrings as well as the manky ear has healed hurray hurray! I'll be swishing them around in the hope someone asks me where I got them lol. Jo, absolutely love the new blog, it's great when blogs have lots of pictures and I think woodlice are really sweet (some may find this odd lol). I'll PM you about DD and sorry for spouting about it on here, I was nearly asleep and thinking out loud. Em, you sound like you'll make such a lovely mum! And when you do decide to have a baby you'll be magically visited by the booby fairy anyway :p have a good day everyone, I'm going to get the kids down the beach early this morning as they've all got to come with me for my hair cut and colour this afternoon and it shall be fun fun fun :rotfl::j xx xx
