Morning
Well, been watching the news for the last half hour, very tired, but hey! Looks like we are going to have a hung parliament and Gordon Brown has already declared he is going to try and hold onto power. 71 seats left to declare.
We flipped from Labour to conservative though, so maybe a shot at keeping OHs job......maybe.turn £100 into £10000 in 2010 member #16 £567.68/£10,000 -I'm a wiggly worm, I'm a wiggly worm, how do you do, I love you, I'm wiggly worm!0 -
Morning M&P! I'm a bit groggy today, having slept on the sofa and woken up every hour or so to see what was afoot. Unfortunately the cat decided it was time I was up by throwing up at 5am, so I figured I might just as well get up.
It all seems a bit of a mess really, and it will be interesting to see how the markets react this morning - not well I fear. Was it me or did Nick Clegg look absolutely shattered when they interviewed him after his declaration? I guess there may be by-elections on the cards because of those messed-up constituencies, but I don't know how we stand constitutionally on this.
DD has kept me on my toes with loads of questions, and has gone off to school ranting that it's not fair that G Brown gets the first go at forming a government LOL.
I guess the first clues we might get today is whether or not Her Madge returns to Buck House.0 -
Morning
I didn't stay up to watch it I just had to sleep but I've spent all morning ranting about it not been fair that G Brown gets first go when he hasn't got the most points anyway.Sealed pot challenge 18750 -
I think we are all a bit groggy trying to keep up with it!
I'd guess the same about the bi-elections, I suppose it all depends on how much of a majority and how much of a fuss there is.
I agree with your DD though, Mr Brown should bow out gracefully, the only way labour stand a chance next term is if someone else c0cks it all up.
On the downside, it looks like, despite the problems in Greece, the pound has sunk against the Euro slightly, typically, buying something from Scandinavia today, costing 3200 Euros, lost £30 on the exhange rate overnight
Pretty safe to say it is hung now I think, I guess it is just a case of waiting to see what will happen next, but it doesn't look good so far. A joint government, with either party, I think would be a disaster, with key policies being so different and the main reason people voting was for those key policies, I don't think that anyone is going to be happy with the outcome.
On a different note, aside from the election, OH and I decided last night, that instead of selling the boat to upgrade, and free up the
cash to pay the last of the loan, we are going to try and restructure our finances to expand and run two boats. It will mean employing another 3 people, but the increase in income will mean that the payments on the loan can more than doubled and it will still be paid off early. Going to be a tight year if we can do it, but in the long run, unless the EU are !!!!!! with the quotas, it will mean a more stable future for us.turn £100 into £10000 in 2010 member #16 £567.68/£10,000 -I'm a wiggly worm, I'm a wiggly worm, how do you do, I love you, I'm wiggly worm!0 -
M&P - In the long run though the increase of income will better for you if it can be done. What is is that you do?Sealed pot challenge 18750

NLID - comlpetely agree
Laura - OH is a fisherman, it works on a share basis, so to get a second boat would mean hiring skipper and crew, plus another baiter, but to effectively hire the boat as it were, it is 50% of all catch, so skipper pays basis bills plus crew out of his 50% and we pay harbour dues and maintainance out of our 50%. In the long run, it will be about £1000 a month additional profit, and unless anything major goes with the boat, only £200 outlay, so roughly £800 extra income for no extra work. We have £16k left on the loan (3k is interest), so it would mean paying 2k that we could have otherwise avoided, but in the long run, I think it would be worth it.turn £100 into £10000 in 2010 member #16 £567.68/£10,000 -I'm a wiggly worm, I'm a wiggly worm, how do you do, I love you, I'm wiggly worm!0 -
No Point wasting my time - the system is corrupt even on an election where one party clearly wins, yet we still have a situation where the party in 2nd will still be in power.£4142.49/ £131,795.91 - 3.14% paid off or only £129,608.80 to go!

It is rather disheartening, but there is no guarentee that that is the way it is going to go. It does suck that even though he lost, he still gets first shot, but that all depends on what parliament say on the issue later on.turn £100 into £10000 in 2010 member #16 £567.68/£10,000 -I'm a wiggly worm, I'm a wiggly worm, how do you do, I love you, I'm wiggly worm!0
