Laptop soooooooo slow, getting error messages etc & not sure what to do?

Depends on the sort of programs you've got installed to be honest. It's a case of remove it and see what happens but just be aware that if things go wrong you might well need to stick it back on. Removing it isn't going to do any harm and it's easily reinstalled if necessary. It's purely down to which programs are being used.0
