So how about getting Malwarebytes sorted...it only takes a few seconds
Got the Wireless Zero Configuration sorted but don't see WLAN AutoConfig in Services? There's one that says Wired AutoConfig?0 -
Forget about that for now...which router?0

It's an O2 wireless box II, back of it says SSID: (then number)
WEP (64bit): (then number)0 -

Go to http://o2wirelessbox.lan Sign in if necessary. Go to Home Network > Interfaces and then double click on WLAN: O2wireless******
Take note of the Interface Type and Security Mode. What is written?
Click on 'configure' at the top right side of the page. What interface type is shown? 802.11b is essential for the built wireless card.
Don't forget to remove the Belkin adapter first.
If you are not bothered about getting the onboard wireless card working, then you should just concentrate on security settings for the Belkin adaptor instead.
Cover that next.0 -
Donnie, as the op has no other means of getting on the net should something go wrong with the switch to wpa and wzc, I've advised they dig out a (currently missing) ethernet lead first.!!

Well hopefully I find the missing ethernet lead soon or it'll be a trip to the pound shop :-)0
-
Ok, no probs. You seem to have it covered, so I'll leave you to it.0

Eventually got online :-) been having major wireless problems. Been talking to Toshiba and they have said the wireless card isn't working and when I switch wireless button on no light appears.
Interface type is 802.11 b/g and security mode is WEP and WEP Encryption is selected.
Looks as if I may just keep to the Belkin Adaptor, however now to get online I have to go into the Belkin Wireless Network Utility and select connect, before it automatically connected?
In services Wireless Zero Configuration is set to start automatically - also I keep getting 'Acquiring Network Address?0 -
I wouldn't get rid of .NET, you may have a program that requires it and just not be aware. Although saying that if you remove it and stuff stops working then just stick it back on.
.NET is effectively a suite of programming functions that some programs use. Chances are you won't need it but you can never be sure.
As for your AV and Spyware software, personally I'd use Avast! and Malwarebytes and see how things go at that. They'll clear the majority of what needs cleared or blocked.0 -

Hi Psychofly
Are you refering to NET framework?
I find very few programmes use it and it certainly slows systems down especially on older/less hi-spec computers.0
