Hello everyone

My laptop is soooooo slow and I just don't know what to do. It's Windows XP Pro and am using Firefox.

I use Avira, Malwarebytes, Ccleaner, SuperAntispyware & Spybot.

I keep getting an error message 'Warning: Unresponsive script'. Also times when Firefox is running it says 'Not Responding'. When I shut down at night it brings up various 'End Program' boxes.

I don't have a Windows Disc to reinstall Windows so not really sure what to do and this is starting to drive me insane lol. It's taken me ages to get this thread submitted :-(

3 lots of resident AV software won't help.

Backup your bookmarks, and try portable firefox, then

Hi closed, I was actually recommended to use all those programs but your probably right as maybe there inflicting with each other. I was just advised to use them as one might pick up something that another mightn't. Which do you think I should unistall?

I'll try portable firefox, do I set it as my default browser?

I've tried setting to factory restore but can't. I contacted Toshiba and they said it was impossible with the Tecra M1 Laptop which is strange and said I'd need the discs. Will download those other programs :-)

Personally I'd remove spybot and superantispyware. There's a manual on demand version of superantispyware if you want a third opinion.

Because you kept replying with the link intact.

You'll need to enter the BIOS to see if the option is there. Is there a model number of PT930E on your machine? If so, there is a BIOS update released in 2008 available, which may add this functionality if not currently there.

Since there is an optional extra of a USB Floppy drive it's entirely possible that the current configuration wii allow you to boot from USB.

Since this laptop is seven years old, the first thing you should do other than insuring that it is not overheating, is to check Hard Disc integrity. You can do this by running ChkDsk.

Once that is eliminated as a cause, you can begin to look at software solutions.

Here is the Tecra M1 manual. The instructions for changing the Boot Order are in Chapter 7.
