Go to Add/Remove programs and remove the MSN Search Enhancement Pack. You don't need the Live Toolbar or SeaPort.

If SeaPort is still there after running the uninstall, look here.

Did you download and save the XP Pro disc for later burning to disc?

There's no MSN Search Enhancement Pack in add/remove programs?

No I didn't save the xp pro disc as I thought I had to have a CD-rewriter to burn it? My laptop isn't a re-writer?

See link in post 2, you don't need more ram if you cut down on the bloat.

Ok then I'll leave the ram for the time being. Ah this Fast Browser Search is starting to drive me mad lol. I uninstalled it from 'add-ons' but it's still in add/remove programs and can't get it uninstalled from there :o

Just after getting this message - Warning: Unresponsive script - Script: chrome://fbstoolbar/content/tb.js:1

This Fast Browser Search toolbar is a pain :o

Are you saying it is still affecting firefoxportable?

Could probably lose this lot amongst others, posting your commit figures (see post 2 link) after a reboot would be useful.

Are you using a belkin wireless card?

Avast may be faster than avira, and doesn't have the splash screen

Yeah am using a Belkin wireless adaptor. After the reboot the fast browser search toolbar wasn't in the firefox browser, just the google one. However it's still in add/remove programs but where it normally says the size of each program is left blank - no size there.

Here's a HJT after reboot - will I still remove those other things you suggested in your last post?

If you remove them and follow the instructions linked in post 2, the commit (straight after a reboot with nothing open) should be in the 120-180 range, and the pc will be much more responsive as a result.

Regarding the browser add in, has the problem gone away in firefox/ie?
