I really need to pay more attention but I switch of as the politicians speak so much rubbish.

Had a letter from Stockport saying yes.
Only thing is, it says they haven't decided how much to pay, but it won't be less than £50, how much is it likely to be? And how long could I be there for (min/max)? Sorry I know this has probably been asked before.
Also this work seems to be taxed weirdly - I'm a student; do I need to pay tax on it or not?0 -
is there a required age?0

If your TOTAL income from employment, self employment, savings interest, pensions etc exceeds the personal allowance (£7475) for the year then yes you pay tax. If not fill in the exemption form and tax will not be automatically deducted.
As to how much - councils are struggling, so I expect they will only pay more than they state if it takes a lot longer than they expect, mine suggests the night time count will take 4 hours but last time it went on for a lot longer and we got about £15 an hour for the extra time.
And as to age - not sure but definitely over 18.0 -

As was posted above, income tax is payable based on your total income in an income tax year. There is no distinction between students and non-students for income tax purposes - this is a common myth about tax. Generally students dont pay income tax because their yearly earnings don't exceed the personal allowance, but if earnings were to exceed that, then students would pay exactly like everybody else.0 -
My council is paying me £1250

Ah the tax thing is clear to me now, thanks.0

I applied end of March/beginning of April and that was in plenty time I think. It probably varies from council to council.0
