HTC Desire Vodafone 500mb Fair Usage Policy

I never said I did think they wouldn't try it again... In fact, I would bet money on the fact they will try it again! lol!
I probably have to agree with a fixed cap being a safer idea but that's not what I agreed to... they sold unlimited and that's what I'm paying for... and let's be honest about it... 1gb is still next to nothing.... 30mb day... That's not unlimited by a long shot.
What they should be doing is offering people the choice of a cap or cancelling the contract...
Slightly off topic... I've been complaining about Ofcom for at least 10 years... They let BT rip the public off for years and years, and now they're letting ISPs and mobile operators do exactly the same... They have a ****ing **** load to answer to, advertising products as unlimited when they clearly aren't and allowing mobile operators to get away with things like this is disgusting.
Someone in Ofcom must make a good living out of back handers...0 -
Hi, 1st post.
Just got a reply to a query i sent 2 days ago to VF:
Hello x,
I am sorry for the your disappointment, due to the changes in the data charges.
These changes are brought about by Vodafone to cope up with the market rate and still of you the best services at the cheapest possible rates.
The terms and condition do state that Vodafone can make changes to the agreement depending upon situations and circumstances, to know more about term and condition please click here
X, the fair usage policy for the Vodafone Mobile Internet is not in the terms and conditions of your agreement and we have given the required amount of notice for the change to take effect.
I trust the above information about the data charges is helpful.
I've also attached a short customer feedback questionnaire and would really appreciate your thoughts to help us improve our service and I can assure you, this will be treated in confidence. Just click here to start.
Kind regards,
Vodafone Customer Services
What do you all think? Is he right?0 -
Ask them what section 27 of the "Vodafone Your Plan Price Plan Terms From July 1 2009" is about then... as they will have to amend as they won't be asking to moderate usage anymore, just charge straight away... currently states:
27. All Vodafone services offered free or under unlimited subscription are subject to our Fair Use Policy. If, in the reasonable opinion of Vodafone, your use is excessive, we may ask you to moderate your usage. If, after we have asked you to moderate your usage, you fail to do so, we reserve the right to:
(a) charge you for the excessive element of your usage at your price plan's standard rate;
(b) throttle your usage; or
(c) suspend or terminate your service in accordance with your airtime terms and
conditions.
I believe they would need to give 30 days notice to change that part0 -
They are saying that the txt is your warning.0

I don't get the vodafone email, we will monitor your usage for the next 3 months.
They are changing the terms of a contract that affect a core service, you have a right of cancellation end of story.
Its like saying hi vodafone I've decided to pay you 9% less each month so since your not affected by 10% or more then you can't whine about it. Now since its been 3 months and you have accepted it, im going to drop down by 9% again ENJOY! Speak to you in another 3 months, and every 3 months thereafter.
Under fair terms of contracts if vodafone can do it then so can you, has anyone been in touch with consumer direct over it yet under the sale of goods and services.
If vodafone really want to do this then they need to apply it to new contracts only and stop their current contract renewals so everyone is on the same terms.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Still in my 7 day cooling off period and obviously not happy about the potential changes/charges on the supposed 'unlimited' contract that I was sold by the Web relations team.
Want to stay but don't want to pay more than I'd signed up to or have to constantly check my usage. Same as most people I guess, and when I could get the same deal on T-mobile via a third party seller and get double the amount of data allowance seems best to jump ship.
Never had a straight forward renewal/upgrade with voda - always something, usually that they've not put me on the tariff that they said or that they are charging me more than they said.... AARRRRGGHH!!!
Exactly the same boat as you!
Not sure what to do, cancel now in the 7 days, or maybe hope they will try and negotiate a better deal for me, or just stick it out and restrict my usage of a phone which is capable of so much more?!!0 -
NOWHERE in the whole Vodafone contract is "3 months" mentioned...
All I can see is- if you disagree with the new terms, you should write to them before the change takes place.....
and also some things are based on previous bill, not current/average/next 3 months
Vodafone: Get some primary school children as CSA, they could at least read and understand what the T&C say before chatting !!!!!!0 -

I have been following this thread from the beginning, and here's my take on it:
I am contracted with VF for 18 months on a Business deal for £35 + VAT on following terms:Your Plan for Small Business, 750 minutes, 250 texts, Unlimited Landlines and Unlimited Internet and Vodafone Passport
So for 18 months atleast, VF can realistically expect my £41, and I have been promised 750 minutes, 250 texts, Unlimited Landlines, Unlimited Internet and Vodafone Passport.
To bring any change to this, according to the T&C we agreed in December 2009, VF will have to notify me with 30 days notice (providing that my tarriff can increase by 10%. I have the option of not agreeing to this, and hence staying with previously agreed contract (if VF agrees to that), or cancel the contract with a 30 day notice.
So, VF are contracted to provide me each and every pence worth of "750 minutes, 250 texts, Unlimited Landlines, Unlimited Internet and Vodafone Passport".
If for any reason, they do not offer me that, the contract has been changed! So VF can stop lying to me that:
- my contract is not being changed,
- and they can charge me that £5 extra...
For what its worth, I do not have to wait for 1,2 or 3 months to see, if this will affect me eventually, since the basic contract is being changed. I signed for 18 months based on my estimated usage in future, and not based on past 1-2-3 months!SAY NO TO INJUSTICE !
