*another one with a pen/pencil fetish here*
OH bought me a pen for Christmas, with its own leather case and I've got a tin of Caran d'Ache crayons just begging to be used.
I'm re-arranging the living space in the kitchen, my desk lives in the hall and my laptop is on the centre island in the kitchen. I'm going to move desk into kitchen and then just maybe, I might sort out the overflowing paperwork that gets dumped on the desk. So far, I've shuffled the packets of kitchen flooring that are stacked up, these will be hidden behind the deskLord help us if we need any more when it is eventually fitted, I'm sure the colour will be long discontinued by then.

Sure
will PM you in the next few days. Experimenting with mind mapping my literature review...
Lara, very well done. Several tears back when I started the PhD training programme at a very large university unit, I did teach 'survival skills'. I did not do mind mapping but did tell our PhDs that structuring the LR (as well as specifying their topic) is like the process of operationalising concepts (or chunking as NLP people call it). Mind maps are an exceptionally good tool I find.
Keep going, girl - thinking of you. And I'll be nice tomorrow when examining - I promise; for the sake of all PhD students.

who do you know - who may know someone that has contacts of any kind in kampala???
lets build a safety net around lara so that she can concentrate on doing the best research she can for her phd - and then of course she can come back and write it in record time.

Lara I go to Uganda once a year although I haven't been this year due to the sudden death of my grand daughter. I do however know the Chaplain of Makere University and his family so if you want their contact details let me know. I am sure you will have a great time I love Uganda.
Well I have started, after a late night reading this thread, today I have completely emptied my attic sorted through everything and put back in a tidy fashion only what was strictly necessary - it feels so good - so after a trip to the tip and the charity shop that is one huge pile of rubbish gone - it's something I was going to do last summer but never did:o. My son helped me and in the process he has sold two computer monitors that were stored up there and made £50 so he is a happy bunny too:)
Tomorrow I plan to dismantle a wardrobe and move it from my little twins room into my oldest son's room where it will be more useful and in the process declutter both rooms. I also plan to move a desk from the garage to our bedroom so my OH can use it as his office thereby reclaim the dining room. I so desperately want a clutter free house so that will definitely be on my list - need to draw up my list of wants tonight and work out my numbers

been into town looking for paint pads, couldn't find any so need to go to b and q.
gonna start decluttering and cleaning the windowsill off.
I read a tip somewhere to use car sponges cut in half and wear rubber gloves - then no trying to wash out messy paint pads, just chuck the sponges away. It's really fast and efficient. If I need to leave it, e.g. over night I just wrap the sponge in cling film and shove the tray in a plastic bag and it doesn't dry out.0 -
HI MG your kitchen looks gorgeous, so welcoming!
I tried to post a comment under the photos on the blog but it wouldn't let me, does anyone know how I can do this? I am a follower/member of the blog through Yahoo, when I try and add a comment it ask me to 'comment as' and select a profile but doesn't give my yahoo account as an option. Can anyone help?
Happy cleaning to you all

Hello Memory Girl and everyone else.
I have been desperate to get back from work to catch up on this thread. Mind you the day wasn't completely wasted as we had training so I sat at the back doing mind maps.
Blimey MG sewing dresses for drag queens. I bet they were very plain and staid with not a sparkle or feather in sight.:rotfl:
Kittikins and Crickett1234 - I would be happy to teach you both. I get very excited about sewing. Also your DD would be welcome - get them started young I say. Plus working in an antroposophical background I truly believe children should get to play and learn lots of different crafts. Have you thought about asking if your local fabric store do lessons.
Off to do some cleaning now. Who would have thought we would all get domestic because a man told us too.:p
Have a good evening all.

Wow - you've been a busy busy bee. i read somewhere that if you want to move forward clear your attic because that represents your future - likewise if you need to release the past do your cellar.
I wonder which repressed part of your psyche relates to the cuboard under the stairs:rotfl::rotfl:
As for the Uganda connection - WOW :T:T:T
It never suprises me that when you ask "who do you know??" someone always does - well done you. Can we do anything to smooth the way in introducing lara?? A nice gift for his family perhaps -something british and some books perhaps???
