Using cheapo conditioner while you comb really helps to dislodge them but in addition to that use vinegar when you rinse the hair - it dissolves the eggs and breaks the cycle of reinfestation.

Makes you wonder whether our grannies knew more than they were saying when they used to use vinegar as a finishing rinse
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • well today i have managed to clear my space to work, tomorrow after work it will be time to finish the rest of the room.

    hi mg

I found hedrin was the only one of the expensive products to actually work... Although I also did try once an olive oil, tea tree and pure orange juice solution spread over DD's hair and then tied a cut open freezer bag over her hair (when it had stopped running!) The idea is that is suffocates the little blighters.... They then slept with a towel on their pillow... I took it off part way thro the night as I was afraid of suffocation but if you did it early enough you wouldn't need them to wear it overnight... I think that worked too but the kids were never keen on repeat treatment

My DD got nits continuously when she first started school we now use a green container of mint and tea tree shampoo - cheepo 99p version from home and bargain or similar and that seems to keep them away. They do a conditioner too

  • Well, I managed to get the kitchen and the downstairs loo sorted last night. I am going to do the lounge and the upstairs tonight while hubby is out at a meeting. And of course get going on the next challenge as well...whatever that is going to be. If I have any spare time/energy I am going to start putting all my craft supplies into one room, rather than having them scattered over the four corners of the house. That is going to take quite some time!! :)

Have a good day everyone. I have a feeling something momentous is going to happen. :D

In work & about to start - Mr Big - where are you? - I'm desperate to see what you are going to challenge MG to do

Netbook is in with me, dongle is loaded with cash & I'm waiting [STRIKE]patiently[/STRIKE] impatiently.

MG - you MUST keep us updated - I'll keep popping on to check as I really should look like I'm doing some work

MG - can I ask a HUGE favour - if "THE TASK" comes in before 4 & if you still have my work e-mail add - AND ONLY IF YOU HAVE TIME - could you drop me an e-mail to let me know it's arrived - don't need to say anything - I'll know if an e-mail arrives from you I have to go to lunch immediately. I know it's a huge favour & if you don't have time it's OK - really - but I thought I'd ask

I am so excited that the kids think its christmas already!!!

now I know on past performance that he willcontact us in the early evening - but I WANT TO KNOW NOW!!!!!!!!!

Congratualtions on all those long-time marrieds - you are my inspiration for meeting "Mr perfect for me":D - I think my longest running relationship is with the sewing machine my mum gave me when i was 12 :rotfl:

you have got love this thread - we are all beavering away decluttering and organising - fantasising about being Charlies Angels, get excited about building brilliant new lives, buying books and facing the realities of our PSB's - when the thread get diverted about nits :rotfl:

    BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!

today i am sorting our my hall - mostly because thats where my teeny virtual office is and i want it to look as pretty as the rest of the house is looking.

i will post photos of DS's bedrooms - mine and the work in progress that is the hallway later this morning after the school run.

i am loving my newly organised house; being in my kitchen without all th epaperwork cluttering the surfaces is fabulous. i made breakfast and packed lunches in minutes today - and already the sink is cleared and a bowl of soapy water is waiting for the dirty bowls - then i can walk out of the kitchen and not have to come back until i make ds2 lunch.

why did i never really make this connection before?????

Oooh i an wittering now - gotta go and organise something
