    Review from Trip Advisor

    4 May 2010 | Trip type: Friends getaway x.gif
Ok, so we got a 2 for 1 deal with 20% discount but stil don't feel like it was value for money ! Unfortunately, on the day of our visit it felt like we were on a building site. Workmen angle grinding patio slab stones and another pressure washing the outdoor pool. The noise drowned out any discernible birdsong !So much for being able to relax. The pool area only had 5 loungers in a dark corner and it took 3 different showers to find one that didn't take my skin off with it. Together with the broken tiles in the steam room I can't really find anything positive to say about this place I'm afraid. I wouldn't go back and certainly wouldn't recommend it.

I think it is time to take our complaints to Watch Dog! Champneys are a total digrace. My local pool is cleaner, warmer and better maintained. Total waste of money!

You paid £500 to go there?! And they've offered you no refund? Did you ask for any money back? (I think I would have!)

Contact BBC watchdog - they love articles to report on like this.
"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."

Thats including treatments. put it this wasy I pay £19 to stay at Travelodge and the accomodation and cleanliness was better than Champneys!!

Even If I had paid £50, I would have expected a good clear explaination, how they intend to resolve on going problems, a thanks for going to the effort to bring it to their attention AND a partial refund or good will gesture. Maybe even a return visit to show me it was a one off and really it is a lovely place to stay.... alas I have had none of this!

I am so glad I found this thread! I have been considering a stay at Champneys, I have just changed my mind completely....

Thanks to the OP and ther posters (except the two newbies who obviously work for the spa) - you have just saved me a lot of money !!!

Its funny Champneys say on their website that they were awarded a "Double A" seal from this company.. a comapny that will only post positive reviews hmmmm thats balanced?? Yet when I look i do not see any awards for them... Tring maybe but not them? Correct me if I am wrong

    http://www.travolaa.com/travel-review/accommodation/591/champneys-forest-mere--hampshire

claimed they got the award in 2009 and 2010??

errr and their arent actually any reviews so doesnt that mean something.. a site that only accepts positive reviews.. go to forest mere and they havent got any... wow that speaks volumes

Its funny, you would think that making a loss year on year they would be making more of an effort to please their clients

A relative of mine used to work for Champneys Forest Mere and she says the staff were treated appallingly - they had a right laugh when the company received Investors in People status! Also they were very unsympathetic when she had time off sick; I commented that they're supposed to care about health and wellbeing - she replied that they only care about money
