Champneys no longer a good spa, disappointing break

Champneys loss really, thousands of potential clients read this site and many of those wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole now. I know I certainly wouldn't.0

What a bunch of muppets, at least if they had addressed your problem the thousands of people who read this site might have given them the benefit of the doubt- as it stands they just look like they couldn't give a toss about customer service.
May I wholeheartedly recommend www.handpickedhotels.co.uk ? We went to the Norton House in Edinburgh for a mini spa break and it was the height of luxury. Got a great deal aswell so worth signing up to their newsletter if you are thinking of planning something.0 -
I would consider myself a fair person and would have happily reported back that my complaint had been dealt with professionally and sincerely.. but alas that has not been the case!!
Ah I think the other hotel i picked was from that website Hotel du Vin? and their sister hotel Malmaison?0 -
Nearly 2,000 viewings now...
Put 'Champneys complaint' into google and this thread is the top result.0 -
wow lol, well you know what that say about word of mouth lol.
I have replied to the second complaint and have received no reply to the specifics of my complaint0 -

I have only visited Forest Mere twice, once for the day and the other over a weekend and I enjoyed myself. I incured a couple of problems with my stay, like all other hotels, there is always something to have a winge about but not to the degree that you listed out point by point. I have to say that if in 'quote 13' it was really that cold for you then you maybe should have asked to have the door closed, i'm guessing you were the only one though to have the problem.... The critisisum you made about KABURNETT was frankly laughable as she can spell THALASSOTHERAPY. Look on paperwork or a dictionary you could spell it too!
I suggest that for the everyday mum and wife looking for time out from kids and ASDA it serves its purpose, relaxed and affordable.
Before you continue to ridicule the place maybe your comments will better be served going to their management rather then posted on here, you may end up getting something for it!!!
OH and just to say before your comments moan I work for Forest Mere, i actually work for a storage company in Portsmouth currently on maternity leave.
I suggest to go to Forest Mere if you havent been, to make up your own mind before listening to people who clearly havent got anything better to do with themselves.
Sorry but:rotfl: Champneys must think we're all stupid. What are the chances of not one but two new posters suddenly popping up from nowhere to sing their praises?
I think most of us tend to weigh up the good and bad reviews. Sometimes bad reviews are justified, sometimes it's more a case of people wanting to find something to complain about, but they will do themselves far more damage planting fake posts like these. How do we know a lot of the glowing reviews on Tripadvisor haven't been posted by Champneys' staff?0 -
Isn't it now illegal for companies to post on internet forums pretending to be customers and giving reviews? I thought there was a new consumer law brought in recently.Professional Photographer with a love of bargain hunting.. Been a moneysavingexpert since 2006 :-D

Yes, it's illegal according to the Times:

Wow.... that puts a whole slant on things?
I have cut and saved this thread but can someone tell me how I do a screen snapshot?0 -
Wow. I can't believe how abysmal the behaviour of people representing Champneys is.
I always find the manner in which a complaint is dealt with is crucial when it comes to companies. Companies and people do make mistakes, but those can be amended with a good response to the consumer. I recently had a complaint about a company and vowed never to go back again, but then I received a well thought out reply addressing all my issues and it did make me want to give them a 2nd chance, and indeed I have.
The reply from Champneys is enough to put me off going there completely. Whether or not you complained at the time about everything, they must know if their plates have seen better days or if their showers run hot and cold. Moaning that you didn't speak to someone at the time is just trying to skirt around the issues you have raised.
From what I have read and seen, they seem like a terribly run part of the outfit and if someone mentions Champneys to me, the first thoughts in my mind are going to be this thread, the OP's experience and the lack of customer service skills they offer. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
