Oh definately Chumpneys. I am not holding my breathe for any further response to my various complaints about my stay. I feel very offended as they were more than happy to take my money..

On a lighter note I have booked my visit to Royal Day spa in Tunbridge Well and although it is not a hotel as well, I am staying at the Hotel Du Vin, which looks fab.

Royal Day Spa have so far been wonderful. I had to cancel my original booking with hours to spare due to food poisoning and they could not have been more helpful and polite. They have happily allowed me to choose a new date and I hope my visit will prove far more enjoyable than Champneys

    :-)

So can you report these employees/Champneys to office of fair trading or something as they have broken that law? Print screen!

well it would be simple enough to verify wouldnt it. You would only have to check the ip address and locate the computer used.... heres betting the address comes up as liphook...

alternatively I would to challenge the two Champneys guests to validiate their idenitity AND prove they visted champneys...

funny how they havent been back eh?

This is a part of the forum I only come to occasionally and I'm sorry to say that I've not heard of Champneys..but I ever come across it, I'll steer well clear ;)

Trip Advisor email hotels/B&B's/Spa's/whatever when a review is placed on the website and are offered the chance to reply to the review. As far as I'm concerned, if no-one from that company can be bothered responding to a bad review then they obviously don't want the returning business...when we get a not good (but not bad) reply, the boss just says 'what does one customer mean to the business, I don't care' but we all know that the boss is deluded...word of mouth can make a company or destroy it's reputation - I'm really shocked to see such poor replies to your complaints. I would carry on complaining until they can't be bothered with you anymore and give you some sort of refund to get rid of you :D

I used to employ a lady who worked there
She now lives in a foreign country and has her own salon
She told me they used to keep the branded bottles for massage products and fill them with cheap unbranded product
I had no reason to disbelieve her
"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

I was thinking of booking a Champneys break for our anniversary later in the year, having read this thread there's no chance I will even consider it, thanks to the OP for highlighting the problems and posting the abyssmal replies of the management team, sorry you had such an awful time.

I went there with my husband last year for a weekend and had a horrific experience. The rooms were no more luxurious than a travelodge, the treatments were average at best, the bike I hired had broken brakes & the cycling helmets were mostly broken! The staff were sullen and seemed unhappy.

We also complained but nothing came of it. The cab driver on the way back to the station was telling us what a high turnover of staff they have and how many people complained on the way out!
nothing to see here, move along...

I think its disgusting that so many guests have made complaints and never had a response. At the end of the day we have all paid for a service and expect to get value for money.

    I have just received a response again;

    Dear Mrs *****

Thank you for acknowledging my email. I did not feel it appropriate to deal with each of the points raised by you individually as obviously Champneys had failed in your expectations. What?? This is madness, why should my complaints not be acknowledged?? Are my expectations wrong to expect decent linen, a clean environment and china without stains and chips?? In reality errr where we originally talking non reality then? no matter what the reason for the issues raised you were disappointed with the day and for this we are extremely sorry sorry is just a word,, Champneys have had these complaints before, action and some form of refund is what needs to be offered. With regard to the issue concerning the lack of sun loungers, the area around the pool is such that we cannot provide more sun loungers without creating a hazard. Oh so you can answer some of the points it seems, just the ones you want though?
Concerning the temperature around the building, whilst the heating system is sufficient to heat the area, when the temperature outside drops it takes longer than say a domestic heating system to improve the ambient temperature. Although the building is heated constantly and a high temperature reading is given which indicates the building is and should be warm, the ambient temperature does not feel quite as it should. Although of course warmth is personal to the individual, although I understand at the time in question it was sunny but cold outside, I do appreciate how the resort felt cold to you. Hmmmm just as I thought, hadnt actually read my complaint properly. The reason it was cold was because nearly every door and 50% of the windows were pinned open AND no heating on. What an insult.

Thats it eh? I spend £500 of my hard earned money on one night away that turns out to be a nightmare and thats
    it?

    Yours sincerely

:eek::eek: and this is the person in charge of complaints!!!:rotfl:

    Review from Good Spa Guide

I visited this spa in November 2007 with a friend on their day package for £69 and was very disappointed.
The whole feel of the place was more like a travelodge - changing rooms tiny, small lockers and only 2 benches in the whole place to put your bag on, grubby showers, black mould, rust spots around the pool, shabby toilets, dreadful buffet lunch. Nothing special about the facilities - basically a pool, jacuzzi, tiny steam and sauna - only 5 showers for all the ladies which meant constant queuing and bumping into people as it was crowded - and this wasn't even a busy day!
I felt ripped off for paying £69 for facilities that were poorer than I have at my health club where the day rate is only £10 and much better. I would not recommend this and won't be returning."
