I don't understand the obsession either.
Saying that maybe I would like shoes if my size 9 extra wide feet would let me!

And I've never watched an episode of Sex in the City.
Although I currently own over 30 pairs of footwear (mostly sale purchases, none of them cost over £20), I'm now looking for a good cheap pair of burgundy shoes to go with 2 particular outfits that I have. My husband doesn't get why I "need" so many shoes.
P.S. I've only ever watched one episode of Sex and the City, which I found boring.0 -
I'm a 41-year-old woman and have never got the shoes thing either (and I don't reckon that BBC statement about "most women" being obsessed with shoes is true - I've never met any woman who had that many shoes, in my whole life, unless they were keeping it secret!!). I'm with happyformonths, I go barefoot whenever possible. I noticed a lot of people posting on the BBC about the story saying "well what's the harm, people can do what they want with their money"! I guess taking that attitude is probably how you end up on DFW! (sorry if that sounds a bit harsh)...0

I love window/internet shopping for shoes and handbags but I also like a bargain too much to go mad and spends loads...

I don't see why she 'needs a good slap' - no mention of being in debt, we all have (or would like to have) our foibles/luxuries/extravagances and as long as she can afford it without going into debt, is it such a problem?Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

I also don't see what the problem is. She seems to have a vague idea of money - she mentions saving up for the NY pair of shoes. Frankly if she can afford it, I don't care whether she uses her cash to buy shoes or sets fire to £20 notes in the streets. It's no different to people who spend their cash on enjoying a vintage car, or nights out down the pub.
And if she can't afford it, I don't see how it's any of my business anyway.0 -
There's nothing too wrong with a shoe habbit. I mean, you can never really have enough shoes if you do go out a lot.0

Was going to post my own reply on this thread until Mark7799 beat me to it with exactly what I was going to say ... Each to their own! ... If she's in debt, THEN she'd need a good slap for spending money on shoes ... In fact, if she (1) is in debt OR (2) is claiming she "can't afford" other more necessary things, OR (3) has got kids and is depriving them of a better quality of life OR (4) is sponging off her parents or boyfriend, that's grounds for "slappage" but otherwise I can't see the problem! (P.S. For the record, I like shoes but I don't understand the obsession!)

We all have our fetishes, things we like to spend our money on, the person likes to spend them on shoes. Its her hobby.
