  • It all seems a bit of a mountain out of a molehill to me. She likes shoes, so what? I like shoes and Sex and the city for that matter, and I can't see where the problem is, she isn't quoted as in debt, she sells on eBay and saves and seriously considers big purchases - all seems very MSE to me. Perhaps she isn't going to change the world by owning 80 pairs of shoes, but if she has earnt the money and it makes her happy, then good for her.

Look, apologies to anyone I may have offended. I was not advocating or condoning violence of any kind and I'm sorry if the phrase made it appear that way. I hate violence of any kind whether it's in real life or on TV.

And I'm sorry if I appeared judgemental...but it's how I felt about this particular person.

Saying that, I've just come back from the gym and have been dwelling on it. I'm sure the BBC interview didn't do her justice. She may well be a totally different person and I'm sure the interview was very 'selective' in what it presented. Maybe I was out of order to start the post.

If you look at my previous posts you'll see I'm not a very serious, "get on his high horse" kind of person (at least I hope not). Maybe I just felt a bit argumentative today.

    so, here comes the apology......

    GP,
I don't care what anyone (including you or the shoe girl) spends their money on because it's not my concern. It just seems to me that, even if you posted the original link to the story in a tongue in cheek way it was almost as if you were saying 'look at this fool....I'd/we'd never do that' and really, who are we to judge her? Why does this story offend you so?

BTW! I had twenty years of tax-paying behind me before I did my degree so no student cracks please!!!!!

Right! I love shoes. I have I think about 50 pairs currently, not counting the 30-odd pairs waiting to be eBayed. I buy em full price, I will only get decednt quality, only leather (plastic shoes rub) and the higher the better! YES I can stand in them YES I can walk in them IN FACT I can even DANCE in them.

I am NOT shallow, NOT vacuous, NOT wasting my money - they make me happy, I can afford it, I look after them and wear them often and I'm sure all of you who think shoes are a waste of money buy things that I think are a waste of money (like ugky Birkenstocks for a start).

I KNOW this thread is meant to be a bit lighthearted, but blimey! What is it about shoes that turns you all nasty?!!?

My mum has a pair of shoes for every conceivable minute of the day. Shoes for gardening, walking, in the rain, in the snow, in the sun, on grass, on the beach, for pegging the washing out, I kid you not. She must be changing her shoes all day.
