    Hi Snaggles,
So sorry to hear about your Gran, but I am sure it is a comfort to all of you to know she approves of the name, such a lovely name too. She will be proud.
Never apologise for an "unhappy" post - we are here to support each other. You have a lot to go through at a time your hormones are everywhere, it is totally understandable you are upset.
You know where we are, will post later, I am at work!

Thank you for your kind words painted lady - yes, the hormones seem to amplify everything I think. It's lovely to be able to come here and have a moan, a cry etc, somehow seeing it in black and white makes it feel easier to cope with.

    Don't work too hard xx

That's a lovely name Snaggles, and even better that you know your Gran approves and to be able to tell Natasha when she's older. My brother and I both have middle names from our grandparents and its nice to have that connection, even with someone I only knew as a very small child. I hope your gran is not in too much pain x

Thanks Kath, yes, it was lovely to see my Gran smile, even if it was only briefly. She is in quite a lot of pain unfortunately - they are doing their best to keep her as comfortable as possible though, and she is incredibly brave and dignified.

How are things going for you - have you had any more thoughts about your possible change of career?

She sounds like a very brave lady indeed. She's in my thoughts x

Things are going well for me, thank you. I've been kept on at work (was only temp) so moneywise I'm ok for now. And I've done a lot of thinking about the midwifery, still really keen on it. I've got an arrangement to spend a day with a community midwife in a couple of weeks and have an open day to go to aswell where hopefully I can chat to someone about my qualifications and the kind of experience I might need. Thank you for asking :)

Thanks Kath, and I'm glad to hear about the job. I bet spending the day with the midwife will be a fantastic experience, it will give you a real taste of the job.

I hope so! I'm really excited about it to be honest. I might come back with some pregnancy related questions :rotfl:

Feel free to ask Kath - although I'm so out of practice, the whole pregnancy is feeling like a completely new experience to me!

I'm going to ask a really embarrassing question now....please don't laugh!! I just wondered if anyone else has come across anything similar - I'm hoping Wattapain is still around, or one of you other Mums/Mums to be might know.....

After me and hubby have engaged in any kind of 'bedroom activities' ;), my bump goes extremely hard and uncomfortable for about ten minutes - I know you can get Braxton Hicks contractions, but I thought these were generally later in the pregnancy, and this has been happening since the early weeks. I wouldn't say it's painful, but it's a bit...um...offputting! Has anyone else had this? :o

Told you it was embarassing - I daren't ask my proper midwife lol!!

Money saving wise, we are having a good week, hubby has just cleared out loads of old videos from the loft, and has sold them on eBay for £100 - so that's another £100 to add to the baby fund. I think we might go and look for a car-seat this weekend, and spend some of it. The only other big item we need now is a cot-bed mattress, which I think I'm going to buy from the Kiddicare website - I've heard lots of good things about them, and their prices seem really good compared to Mothercare etc.

I've also decided I'm going to take the plunge and buy some re-useable nappies - I'm going to buy the first size, so I might not be able to use them straight away, because the newborn size only goes up to 11lbs, and my son was 9lbs when he was born (and I'm told second babies tend to be slightly bigger). So I'll use disposeables for the first few weeks, and then gradually move over to re-useables, in the hope that eventually I will be using JUST the re-useables.

My best friend told me she got that. Apparently it's to do with the contractions you get during *whispers* orgasm. But it's not harmful. :o
