You know when a day goes from bad to worse.......
Stu has just had a text message from a mate at work - he's going to be made redundant in August/September because they're closing down.
He's known it was on the cards for ages, but it WOULD have to happen now!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
OH no!!!! How awful.
Will he get a pay out? Is there work out there that he could get afterwards? So sorry to hear this - especially now!!

Oh Snaggles!
That's not good. But if he tries job hunting now and you looking into what you are entitled to should the worst happen at least you'd be a little prepared for it. Also remember there should be a redundancy payout
Let us know how you get on.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
He's been there 8 years so will get a payout of some kind but it will be the bare minimum I'm sure. He should be able to get another job, he works in a warehouse driving fork trucks etc so I think he will get work, although he might have to put up with rubbish shift patterns etc for a while. We'll be okay, but it's just come at a crap time."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Updated 'jobs for today' list:
[STRIKE]Clean bathroom[/STRIKE] Done
Dust Bedroom
[STRIKE]Tidy Ryan's room[/STRIKE] Done by Stu :T
Fill in/post child benefit form Filled in but not posted yet
Sort out standing orders for sharesaves Have got all details together, tackling this at the moment!
Ring tax credits office to update details
Dig out Stu's CV and update it
Go for a drive round local industrial estates and make a list of places to send CV
And in other annoying news, Ryan's teacher has rung, she's 'too busy' to see us today so has rearranged our meeting for Friday, so I have to wait and worry for the rest of the week about what she's going to say...."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Surely the title of this thread should now be I've 'had' a DFW baby? lol
Just wanted to say a couple things, one about the child benefit.. you can apply online! Can't remember the address but that's what we did and then we just sent them the birth certificate and it went through really quickly.
Also when we updated tax credits the payments changed straight away so you shouldn't have to wait to long.
Hope your DH sorts his work out soon!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Sorry to hear about Stu's job - but I'm sure there is something better out there for him - might not seem like it now though.
Fingers crossed for you all, and don't worry about what that teacher will say - I'm sure some of them get a perverse pleasure from torturing us parents!
(Joke btw - I work in lots of schools and know a fair few teachers!):j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
