Hi El, it's fun having kids eh? I can understand your mixed feelings though, a little part of me thought 'good on him' for telling the teacher they should have known his name.
Natasha is pretty amazing so far, I'm not sure whether we've been incredibly lucky, or if she's just easing us in gently, sort of like the calm before the storm, but either way I'm enjoying it while it lasts!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Ohhhhh, it's going to be an expensive few days!!!
I got paid my holiday pay last month, so managed to put £300 into my savings, and the person who rode into our car has given us £220 towards the repairs, plus Stu has £100 in his savings account.... so we have £650 - sounds great so far!
But....the car repairs are £420 (being done on Friday), Stu needs to pay for his car tax £140 (due 1st June but he's buying it today), and his MOT (it passed! he's just on his way to collect it now) £45. So we need to pay out £605 this week, which nearly wipes out all the money I had put aside.
Now 'technically' Stu should be paying for his own car tax and MOT, but he hasn't saved up quite enough - he's saved £100 and they come to £185 - but I'll let him off as this is the first time he's saved for ANYTHING in his life, and he's got a standing order set up already to save up for next year, to make sure he has enough this time!
One day I WILL spend my savings on myself......"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
oh hunny that's a shame your not getting anything to yourself ...i'm glad thought that the childs parents put something towards fixing the car wish it was more but atleast it's better than nothing could you not maybe even treat yourself to a £5 lunch with a friend? i know it aint practical but it's important that you also get some fun for all your saving ...son is having his band over to practice in the garage so that's gonna be fun think i'll pop inot town for a couple of hours0

Thanks....I'm used to it by now lol! But I think I will try and get out and do SOMETHING this week, Stu goes back to work tomorrow (he's had 2 weeks paternity leave....can't believe Natasha is 2 weeks old tomorrow!), and I don't want to get into the habit of just sitting at home all day every day.
The band practice in your garage sounds fun!

Oh, forgot to say, we only asked the child's parents for half of the money in the end, we decided that if we were nice about it, hopefully they would be the same. We could have probably pushed for more, but might have ended up with nothing, because we made the stupid mistake of not getting the details of the witness..... you live and learn."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Oh bu@@er, the more I look at our accounts, the worse they look!
Somehow we overspent on our shopping and petrol budget by £100 last month!!!! I know about £30 - £40 of this was purely down to parking/transport while I was in hospital, which is a bit annoying, but the other £60-ish has been just down to overspending (and letting hubby do the shopping lol).
So our not-very-healthy budget for this month is £258, of which £90 will be needed for petrol roughly, leaving a shopping budget of £168. Luckily we do our shopping at the weekend, and there's only 4 weekends before next payday, so that's £42 per week - not much but I think we will cope....I hope!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I'm sure you will! And when you get the extra CB that'll help towards the extra cost of the nappies. Also don't forget the £10 boots vouchers from pigsback
Have you still got those extra points on your boots card? Could you use some of those for a treat for yourself? Or even just to cover the nappies cost?!!
She's so gorgeous

Sea, that's a fantastic idea thanks, there's enough points on my Boots card to cover nappies for the full month I think! :T :T
There's probably enough to cover a few other bits and pieces like toothpaste, shampoo etc too, which will help stretch our shopping budget a bit further!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
The nappies wipes etc really eat into the budget, don't they?! I can do a weekly shop of about £35 and eat really well, but add into that the nappies, wipes and baby milk - arghhhhh
Should take my own advice and use the Boots vouchers not for me but for those things lol!
