Martin's right, it was a private conversation in which an off the cuff remark was made out of frustration. The media vultures couldn't wait to swoop and obviously had no consideration for the woman's feelings at all. Brown has apologised yet the circus continues. Silly me for expecting people to act fairly and responsibly during election campaign time.
I totally agree with your comment.
I did feel sorry for GB, too many questions in a short space of time. You see sometimes that some people will not let people answer the question, they just keep bombarding them with more questionsThanks to all who post compsITV winners membersclub#20 -

He wasn’t making a policy statement about this, it was a private aside,...
In this respect, I agree, but what I think it does show is his genuine beliefs rather than the front he puts on to please the crowds.
Whilst he was clearly upset by having to endure the incident, he wasn't angry "in a fists and spitting type way" so I don't think it could be argued that the comments made were not intended due to raging anger.
What was also very telling was that almost his first reponse to the incident was that of who to blame for the incident he was involved in ("Sue" Nye) rather than taking the disasterous encounter as a mistake of his own. His aide may have set up the discussion, but she didn't say anything in the discussion; that was all his doing. She simply did what he asked ... to get to speak to individuals from the voting public. Maybe he should have been more specific in in requirements of her?
"I want to go out and speak to individuals of the voting public ... but only those that share my views and won't ask any awkward questions""Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

It can't. It's preventing the government reducing £1,000 billion debt we're in at the moment.
That's right - our politicians have been squabbling over an amount that's 0.6% of our deficit instead of concentrating on more substantial measures to reduce it.
It's a bit like complaining to one's wife for spending £6 quid when that money could have gone towards paying off the £1,000 credit card bill, while you're giving your kids £50 pocket money.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Gordy is still getting my vote..................Labour
Dont think the other two would have got us through the last couple of years if they was in power.

Just for balance the alternate view is maybe the other two would not have got us into the mess of the last couple of years if they were in power"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

I know Labour voters have difficulty in hearing the facts.
But do they now suffer from visual impairment to such degree that everything has to be in Very Large Text?0 -

Is there anywhere on "MSE" that says you cant use Large Text.....
No. There isn't.
That's because MSErs tend to intuitively show consideration for others by not seeking to hog comment space with large type inanities.
However, I can appreciate that the supporter of a Government intent on regulating every aspect of human life would naturally expect to find a similar kind of administration-by-diktat on MSE, including an entire department in charge of large type / small type regulations.

The reason this is so damaging to Gordon Brown is because it reveals his contempt for those on whom he was relying for electoral success.0
