Its official I talk out of my bum :j

    probably spot on :rotfl:
  • Martin,

I think you summed it up really well. He did something all of us do, he was just silly enough to still have a microphone on when he did it.

Should it affect his ratings in the polls? It shouldn't, but probably will.

Will the other party leaders jump on this? Possibly, but will they avoid doing so as they both know it could easily the one of them next time?

So you want a person who says one thing to everyone....to get votes....then is thinking something totally different and as such will do whatever he has already decided to do....regardless of what those who voted for them want?!!!
If that is what you want from a PM....then sir.....you are an idiot!!!

and if you want someone who is completely open and upfront about everything at all times then you'll have nobody to vote for!

Feel thoroughly sorry for Gordon. Well said Martin.

(I'm not a Labour voter, btw)

Same here. A total overeaction. It was a private conversation accidentally made public. I also feel sorry for the PM, and i'm not a Labour voter either.

Well martin, I guess I talk out of my bum!!

He didn't like it and felt stressed for want of no better word. As he was challenged on the main things where he has failed, and failed very badly. Crime, Pensions, Immigration, and lest we forget, the economy.

So, Gordon Brown shows complete and utter contempt for one of his supporters who wanted answers to some legitimate questions and we're supposed to empathize?

    From http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/election/article-1269761/Gordon-Browns-Gillian-Duffy-gaffe-PMs-humiliating-day-minute-minute.html
GD: The thing that I can't understand is why am I still being taxed at 66 years old because my husband's died and I had some of his pension tagged on to mine?

GB: Well we are raising the threshold at which people start paying tax as pensioners. But yes, if you've got an occupational pension you may have to pay some tax but you may be eligible for the pension credit as well, you should check...
He fails to answer the question. Is she a bigot for asking it?
GD: How are you going to get us out of all this debt Gordon?

GB: Because we have got a deficit reduction plan to cut the debt in half over the next four years. We've got the plans, they've been set out today...
None of the parties have answered this question.
GD: The three main things what I had drummed in when I was a child was education, health service and looking after people who are vulnerable. But there's too many people now who aren't vulnerable but they can claim, and people who are vulnerable can't claim, can't get it.

GB: But they shouldn't be doing that, there is no life on the dole for people any more. If you are unemployed you've got to go back to work...
Of course there's still life on the dole for people. You'd have to earn over £20K to make coming off the dole worth while.
GD: You can't say anything about the immigrants ... but all these Eastern Europeans what are coming in, where are they flocking from?

GB: A million people have come from Europe but a million British people have gone into Europe. You do know that there's a lot of British people staying in Europe as well...
Non answer and, I assume, the question that caused the 'bigot' comment. Incidentally, for the years 1997-2008 0.8m people emigrated, 2m immigrated, and of that latter figure, only 0.5m of them came from Europe.
GD: And what are you going to do about students who are coming in then, all this that you have to pay, you've scrapped that Gordon...

    GB: Tuition fees?

GD: Yes. I'm thinking about my grandchildren here. What will they have to pay to get into university?

GB: You've got 40 per cent of young people now going to university, more than ever, so you've got to have some balance. If you get a degree and you earn twice as much after you get the degree then you've got to pay something back as a contribution. But there are grants for your grandchildren... for the first year the majority of people going to university are women... education, health and helping people, that's what I'm about.
Again, failing to answer the question.

So, then, which part of that was bigoted?
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

Perhaps there wouldn't have been so much fuss made if Brown didn't already have a reputation for being pretty horrible to people.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
