Bought a can of that low-fat spray oil in a fit of madness once and kept it for a couple of years before admitting defeat and chucking it out. I started the June storecupboard challenge and got rid of loads of out of date stuff then, so the food cupboards are pretty clean and only have stuff I regularly use.:j0

I have quite a few bits & pieces
half a bag of mung beans ( just cannot be bothered to sprout them again, hassle)
9 "Pot noodle" balti rice pots. the weird thing is they are actually quite nie. got them in 99p stores for 12. Im never going to get to the end of those
2 sachets of thai red curry paste - i jsut cant work out what to do with it without involving coconut which OH cant have really due to cholestrol
And SHED loads of bay leaves. I mean LOADS. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
In my cupboard I have 2 tins that I won't use, both given to me by a french student I had staying with me.
One is a large tin of Duck in Fat, the other I am unable to translate it's Melange de Canard confit pour Fricassee. Any ideas what I can do with either of these? I hate to waste stuff.

Canard = duck, but I don't know what the other words are! Perhaps a duck casserole or something?
The duck in fat - you could cook it until the fat melts, drain the meat off and use the duck fat for Yorkshire puds. Duck fat is one of the best fats to use for Yorkshires! Here I go again on my own....0 -

Make the stuffing up with water, an egg and a knob of butter and make into balls, wrap in bacon and bake in the oven - they're lovely with mash and gravy."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

I don't like coconut milk so make thai curries with yoghurt or a mixture of yoghurt/creme fraiche instead. It always worked fine for me.0 -

Once bought, what I thought was mango chutney, was in fact lime chutney and I hate limes! Struggled with it for a few curries, but then had to bin as it was so yucky! Serves me right for seeing the reduced price label before reading what it was!!
My sister bought OH a jar of apple chutney for christmas last year. Really doesn't sound very appetising! Any suggestions?!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsDFW Long Hauler #109
