What food items will you never use/swap ideas?

Options
Was just looking through my cupboard and I have a tin of pressed cod roe which I bought by mistake thinking it was the floppy pale stuff I could fry and have on toast. This is orange, solid paste and tastes completely different. The cats can have it. Also have some flavoured polenta from the last trip to Italy - DH refuses to eat it, so I doubt it'll ever get used.

What do you have in your cupboard and/or freezer that you know you'll never use?
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

    Nothing !

But I confess I sometimes have phases of buying low-fat stuff like quark, skimmed milk, low-fat yogurt and low-fat spray oil thingys - they stay in the fridge a week and then get binned:o Wasteful I know but tasteless too.

I've got a tin of artichoke hearts that I got for free. They've been in the cupboard for ages as I don't know what to do with them!

You've all got my taste buds - I hate couscous, loathe cod roe and dislike artichokes. Why do we end up with stuff we don't like. We must have liked it when we put it in the trolley????

Do you mean in its consitency or otherwise?
I'm sure some of us could help you out in that regard - couscous is something I always like to have on hand.

I have quinoa and dried soya beans lurking about somewhere that have been there for god knows how long, but I'm going to use them eventually!

(Or so I've convinced myself. I hate throwing stuff away.)

Red Salmon - reminds me of my nan's saturday afternoon teas and rice pudding - can't stand the stuff - must have been premenstrual when I bought them - temporary insanity!

Sounds mad but three individually wrapped steaks in the freezer. Present from my s-i-l, out of a bulk pack she bought. DH is veggie so we always have veggie main meals, and when he's out or away I can't be bothered to sort out the things that make a steak into a meal.

One of these nights I will (a) remember to thaw one out, and (b) slice a tomato in half, and organize some oven chips and onion rings.

Then there will be the washing up....... :(.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Ooh - snap on the quinoa! I'm sure it must be out of date by now, but its supposed to be SO good for you. It won't be the first pack of quinoa binned unopened - you'd think I would learn!

We also have a tin of minestrone soup - my OH bought it,swearing he would use it - well over a year ago. He now swears blind it wasn't him that bought it - but I remember.... He isn't allowed to shop very often.....
