I'm getting married at Rudding Park near Harrogate in Aug 11- it's a tad on the pricey side- but if you go for the package deal (Thursdays in the summer) which we are doing you can make a saving of £5,000 :) I don't think I can provide the link as I'm new, but it's worth adding to your list.

Lucky you! I went to a wedding there last year and it was brilliant! Well done on the great deal too! :money:

Not the most MSE but I can recommend a make up artist a little more 'North' Yorkshire, I've used her for a ball in the past and she's really nice, really good and uses fantastic make-up. Victoria Lees, the bridal stuff is at the bottom of the page.
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I'm now looking for contacts for hair and makeup. So it would be useful to know what you think of the lady you've found HB81. Although I don't think she covers my area (north leeds)

I have booked a trial with this lady http://www.jessieyoung.co.uk/
who does hair and makeup and is in the north leeds area. I'll let you know how it goes when I have my trial :)

Wow- this thread is so useful! :T Only found it via Google- have no idea where it is in the wedding forum?!!
It drops down the pages if no-one posts for a while. It would be quite good if it was a sticky but I don't know who to ask about that. :)

Thanks for the links re hair and makeup :)

I'm definitely looking for someone who could do both, or I'd consider just hair and doing my makeup myself to save money...

Let me know how they trials go :)

I'm a Sheffield bride, due to marry in June this year (only 19 weeks!!). I am coming on board to recommend a local ice cream producer who I have booked today http://www.ourcowmolly.co.uk We will be renting their bright pink lift top freeezer and having small icecream pots (like you get at theatre) for our evening do - a real bargain and absolutely amazing tastes. Would definately recommend anyone in Sheffield/Barnsley area to pop into their bright pink icecream parlour for some samples! Me and OH are well and truly stuffed - icecream on a rainy Sunday - its the future!

  • Am I allowed to post on here if I'm the Groom? I cant seem to find a thread on wedding yorkshire weddings other than this one? Well if you pardon my intrusion, i've been around on the savings and MFW forums for a while but yesterday Mrs MM and myself confirmed WentBridge House Hotel near Ackworth as our reception venue and are getting married at Kirkburton Church on Friday 27th July 2012!!!!!!

We looked at so many venues including Wortley,Whitley,Tankersley,Rogerthorpe,Oulton Hall - our excel spreadsheet had 32 venues on it and we visited 16 in total and plumped for the Wentbridge after viewing several times by ourselves and getting the nod from the parental units! We are looking at 110 for the day and further 60-70 for the evening do. Now we have sorted the venues we can crack on with organising our cars, flowers, outfits, favours, photographer etc. I'm sure I will be checking in on the thread even though a lot of is to do with girlie stuff I will certainly be passing it onto the missus!
