Hi,
Thankyou so much for the links Linda.
I have an update on the vintage china cabinet....I went to view the china last sunday and I have booked the afternoon tea package for my wedding next August :T I ended up staying for two hours, talking about themes, music, everything vintage etc... originally I wanted mis-matched china for each table but they styled a wedding a few weeks ago which had a different theme for each table, ie a 1940's table, a 1950's table etc...so I am now undecided and confused, my head is full of ideas. But at least I have the china booked for the date I wanted. Whilst I was there they told me about a newly opened vintage tea room/clothes shop in York, which just so happens to have their own resident vintage hairstylist. wwwthehouseofavalon.org.uk so I am definately paying them a visit next time I am in York.
Still looking for a suitable 'vintagy' venue near Whitby.
As for wedding dresses...my mum still has hers from the early 1960'sIt has not been worn since my parents were married all those years ago...I hadn't even thought about wearing it so I hope it fits.
Slowly getting there.
If I come across any other fab websites I will let you all know.

I know you've already found your china hire, but I went to a vintage wedding event in Harrogate a few months ago and picked up a flyer for AddVintage, who are based in Leeds and do china hire... so that's another recommendation for the thread

Hello all!
I am and I'm not a Yorkshire bride as I do hail from North Yorkshire but I'm getting married abroad! My brother is getting married at 'home' though so I'm posting on his and SIL2B's behalf as it's very likely that I'll be helping with much of the planning as my dear SIL2B is a little confused and stuck when it comes to organising the Big Day!
I'm after some inspiration for them really, looking for informal venues in the Northallerton/Thirsk area up to Yarm and surrounding areas. They don't want guests travelling too far, but wherever they get married someone will have to travel so if they find a great venue that's maybe within 30-45 minutes drive they might consider it. Any ideas?
SIL2B has also said that she wants a Yorkshire theme as she's a very proud Yorkshire farmer's lass and wants to include this in the wedding; I showed her some little ideas to incorporate the farming aspect like these:
She's decided that the tables will be named after places around N. Yorkshire and the table plan will be based on a map of the area (not sure how this will work yet, but we'll have a play about!).
Has anyone got any other Yorkshire theme ideas? Anyone else having a theme like this for their wedding?Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Whoops, long time no post!
Thought I'd pop on and mention there is a wedding fayre at Weetwood Hall, Leeds tomorrow 11am-3pm-ish.
I went to the one in January and it was very good with lots of people there. In fact, that is where we have booked our wedding0 -
Yep, and UK wedding show Harrogate today and tomorrow!0
