getting a company to tell me their companies house number

I dont see what you mean by "debtors letter"
If you want to claim money back from a company/trader, you will need to go down the Small Claims Court route by going to http://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk
If you want to just send them a letter saying they owe you money, you can send an LBA (Letter Before Action) warning them to pay up or you will take it to court. Make sure you state the amount owed, why they owe it and state they have 14 working days to resolve the issue. Google "Letter Before Action template" and you will see examples.
If you dont receive anything within 14 days, you will be entitled to refer this to the small claims court to get them to look at resolving the issue for you.0 -
hiya,
No, I'm not wasting people's time.I have taken the advice of looking up the company name on domains and contacted companies house.
If you don't have their full corporate details but a trading name and address, send the debtors letter anyway.
Ok, where do i get the template for this debtor's letter? The one I have needs the actual company trading name?
ta,
yogi
Would strongly suggest you post it if you wish any further advice0 -
I use the wrong company name and the sheriff court try to enforce the debtor's letter, then I'll incur costs
I guess that the OP is in Scotland or the company is, so advice needs to be in Scottish.
I wasted 4 days on a jury in england before some worked out that as the defrauded company was scottish the case could not be heard in england.0 -
More details are required. I still don't even know what a debtors letter is intended to be.0

Me neither.
OP if you give us some information about what it is that has happened and what you are trying to do, there may be people on here who can help you to find a way round it. But without more information it is impossible to help you.
It is particularly difficult because you are in Scotland, so there is not much point in people telling you what you should do if you lived in England, as the law (and procedure) may be different, so this is another reason why we need to know what has happened and what you are trying to do.
Of course you may not wish to tell us, but that does mean we may not be able to help you.
Sorry.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

OK, got it for ya.
The PM College website application form states that an address in Hatfield, Hertfordshire is the admissions office, with postal code AL10 0PJ.
Running a quick check via Nominet (Domain name whois) says that GCS Worldwide Ltd is the domain name owner, with the same address in Hertfordshire.
HOWEVER, when I ran these details through my credit check software, it has come up saying that the company has been dissolved. They also have numerous court appearances and CCJs registered against them. I would imagine the only thing you could do to get money out of them, etc, would be to add your details to the creditor list and you "may" get your money back, but this is doubtful.
Details below, sorry I cant help any further.

hiya debtHater,
Thanks very much for the info. It's much more than i got, despite doing loads of digging.So...Do you know how I can find out how to add my claim to the creditor list that they obviously have against them?
Many thanks,
yogi0 -
If the company has been dissolved there is no list of creditors - it will either have been dissolved voluntarily (and from memory to do this the directors have to declare that there are no debts) or it could have been by companies house if they suspected that the company was no longer a live trading company - usually when annual returns and accounts have not been filed for some time.
A list of creditors would be held by a liquidator if it had been wound up - on either a voluntary or compulsory basis, or in administration/ CVA - but from the info above none of these have happened.
As a creditor - if you are owed more than £750 you can apply to court to reinstate the company to the register (ie, undissolve it) and then apply to wind it up. Then if the company has any assets you would get an equal proportion to other creditors but it would cost a bit to do this (sorry - cannot remember how much the fees are - you could check on www.insolvency.gov.uk and I think its on there). If the company has no assets you will not get a penny back, or the costs of yu taking the action.
If the company has other creditors then one of them may also do the above process, but the only creditor who usually bothers is HMRC and it could take them a while to do it (from experiennce).0
