hiya,
I'm in dispute with a company. They owe me money and I want to send a debtor's letter.I understand that there's a certain thing called "disclosure", where a company have to tell you their compnies house name or number within 5 working days if you request it in writing.
Does anyone have any experience of doing this.I have the company's domain name, but that domain name doesn't exist as a business in companies house.
Any urgent advice appreciated.

I'm not an expert, but I understood it was a legal requirement for an e-commerce site to list a company's registered office and details on their website. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to clarify this0

Whats the name of the company or do you have a post code or phone number?0
-
Have you checked their T&Cs, sometimes the actual company name can be hidden in there. What is the web site?0
-
You can also use the webcheck service via the Companies House website. If you want to know what act demands this reference Companies Act 2006 however it may only pertain the the registered address and not necessarily the company number.0

Just do a search on companies house website0

Nobody read the first post. He says he's already used Companies House but because he only has the domain name, rather than the actual registered company name, nothing comes up.0

If you can post the domain name, someone may well be able to help you. Alternatively, go to nominet.org.uk (if it is a .co.uk domain) or whois.domaintools.com (if a .com) and do a whois search it might give you info that could be useful.0 -
From companies house.
Applies only to limited company --
Q. What do I need to display in my business letters, orders and websites?
A. The company name, number, place of registration, and its registered office address.
They are required by law to provide all of these on their website. Check every page of their site, if the details are not there, report them to companies house.
If they are not a limited company then the rules are different."Gold is the money of kings; silver is the money of gentlemen; barter is the money of peasants; but debt is the money of slaves." - Norm Franz0 -

All very true but Companies House very rarely instigate any action on this.0 -

No such requirement although as a matter of good practise, they should tell you their full corporate details.
If you don't have their full corporate details but a trading name and address, send the debtors letter anyway.0
