    Hi everyone,
WI today and I lost the 1 1/2lb I put on so back to what I originally was at the beginning of May no so no loss but at least no gains. I´m not contributing much weight loss to this thread but I hope to lose some more weight before the month is out.

Hi all *creeps back in with tail between legs*

Sorry I've been AWOL for quite a few days, I've been having a very hard time at work and eating too much and just a bit miserable about my weight. But yesterday I had something of a tipping point.

I got on the scales - still 10st - but I also realised that I can now SEE the extra fat, really see it. Does that make sense? I could see my fingers getting fatter, my tummy getting rounder, the tops of my thighs rubbing together etc. And it horrified me in a way that the scales didn't!

Anyway, I had a big heart to heart with OH, who is very kind and told me that I don't look any different to him (bless), but that if I wanted to lose weight he would support me. So I took a good hard look at myself and worked out what I'm doing wrong. I've given up eating buttered toast for brekkie, which must surely be saving me lots of calories, but my HM lunches, though healthy, are on the large side and I have NO IDEA how many calories are in them. No doubt too many!!!

So I'm going to start letting someone else calculate it for me. I'm going to start eating M&S/Tesco salads etc for a while so that I know how many calories are in them. And I'm going to start eating healthier, smaller dinners - grilled chicken or fish with vegetables and/or brown rice. And I need to get used to feeling hungry once in a while!!!

I'm also going to exercise more. I already do a fair bit - cycle or walk to and from work, with another 45 minutes walking at lunchtime and a few evening walks - but clearly this is not enough to lose weight with the amount I'm eating!!! So I went out on the bike this evening for an hour, it felt so good. I deliberately chose a route with a couple of steep hills to challenge myself. I also stopped at M&S on the way home and bought myself some exotic fruit, plus prawns and seafood sauce for tomorrow's lunch (I wanted a salad but they were sold out). I am serious about doing this now. This is New Tara, watch out flab!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, am off to bed shortly but will catch up with everyone tomorrow. I hope you don't mind the mega post, I just wanted to get it all down in black and white.

    Hi Tara

Sorry you're having such a rubbish time at the moment. I just wanted to say that you don't necessarily need to give up stuff, it might just take a few substitutions or calculations to help things along.

Ie with the toast - I sacrificed my love for the Toastie loaf and switched to those half sized loaves instead. The Warburtons wholemeal one (as an example) is only 55 cals a slice, so two or three slices of that and a bit of spread is really not high in calories at all. It keeps me going till lunchtime so it might be worth a try for you.

And in the MSE spirit (cos I don't want you to bankrupt yourself on buying shop salads :D ) why don't you sit down and work out the calorie content of a few of your typical lunches? It's a bit faffy at first but once you've done it it's done! Large portions aren't necessarily a bad thing, it just depends what they're made up of. I had a huge dinner of stirfry the other evening and the calorie content was really quite low cos it was mostly veg with just a few rice noodles chucked in. Once you know how many calories are in your typical sized portion of rice or spuds or pasta, it's dead easy to guestimate the rest of the meal, even when you're cooking it all from scratch.

Oh and I've lost another pound this week :D

    Hi all :hello:

Sorry i've been awol over the last couple of weeks, but me and hubby have been trying to get back to 'normal' - if that's the right word! The past few months have been stressful to say the least, so if i can lose weight while that was going on then I can lose weight ANYTIME!
The good new's is that we are getting there :j, so have been concentrating on 'us' rather than my diet. So now i'm back on the wagon after an up and down May (weight wise), I actually put on 4lb's one week but thankfully lost it the next

Anyway, weigh in in the morning, finger's crossed, but it's TOTM so not hoping for a loss but a sts!

Will post tomorrow my result :)

(hopefully have something to add to the already fabulous weight losses that you've all done!)

hi everyone, i stayed the same this week which isn't bad considering i'm in what i class as being transition as i've decided to lose weight but have only been doing it for a day or so. Found a book today called 'Eat All Day Diet' which works on the eat 6 smaller meals a day to keep your metabolism ticking over. I think i will give this a go, i know when i was a gym member a few years ago and dieting with them they said something very similar.

    Afternoon everyone.

Had my weigh in today and still 18st 7lb's! Well sort of knew that already, and the best outcome I could hope for really.

One more weigh in to go, so i'm going to do all I can this week to try and shift at least 1lb.
I have started Aquarobics (sp?) on a tuesday night's in the hope that It will help me lose a pound or two - well I can live in hope!

Have a good day all and I hope the sun is shining where ever you are :)
