Well done everyone - we are all doing really well. It doesn't matter if it is only 1/4lb - at least it's coming off! :j:j0

Does anyone tend to eat what they normally eat (less chocolate bars from the shop - just because) more fruit and more salad/veg and still lose weight?
We tend to have a lot of "freezer" food (fish, chips, pie, sausage, chicken kiev etc) and pasta.
this is how we cook but I want to lose weight - I've just put weight on, not ness overweight as such, just not 100% happy with myself (who is?!). I left uni 3 years ago and before I was at uni I did loads of sport - my job now stops me as I often work evenings. I went for a walk tonight, to check the route out for running, it's not ideal, but for once I've not given up, I've found another route that I'm going to test tomorrow.
I WILL go to badminton on Wednesday (always put that off) and then hopefully Thursday another walk/run on the route.walking my test route (although not suitable for running) did make me feel good!
Any tips appreciated - esp cooking for one!0 -
oh, I'm 24 (25 later this year) and never really weigh myself just judge by how I feel (may not help I know)
Having a b/f who can eat whatever he wants and not put on a bean is annoying too! Working shifts doesn't help either - messes up your eating pattern!0 -
WI tonight and have lost 3lbs:j
Jenny_f, I am basically eating what I did before but slightly smaller portions and less snacking. I am using a food and exercise diary (myfitnesspal.com) which helps me keep track of my snacking which is my main problem.0 -
elainem10 - that's great and is ideally what I plan to do, with hopefully some more exercise. I end up nipping for a loaf of bread and just NEEDING a chocolate bar?! I then regret it and feel guilty when I've eaten it! I also work with students who I give an endless supply of biscuits which I then decide I have to eat as well (and not just one biscuit!).
I have done well in the past cutting out all crisps/chocolate/biscuits etc and when I did treat myself to one of them I enjoyed it more. Maybe can't cut out crisps completely just yet but may be every other day rather than every day.0 -

Hi I don't eat "diet foods", if that's what you mean. I have lost about a stone from an intensive exercise regime. The thing is today is my first day of properly counting calories, and I can see that it really adds up! so far I have used 685 cals on (milk based) coffee, seedy toast and jam, and a small glass of tropical juice!!! I have a total of 1900 cals to eat in a day, apparantly.
I eat veg with dinner, to bulk it out, but I don't tend to eat fruit as snacks.
Its probably a lot harder to eat "normally" and lose weight, as I am finding you have to really be aware of portion sizes, etc. I think when you put on weight, you need to think about changing your lifestyle, for good. When the food in the fridge is the same as its always been, it is always tempting to slip back into old ways.
Good luck, someone i know is safe and snug and they're drifting off to sleep. round and round a little boat, no bigger than your hand, out on the ocean far away from land, take the little sail down. light the little light. this is the way to the garden in the night...0 -
Hi everyone
Feeling kinda high and kinda low at the same time today. Still haven't managed to weigh in, might do it on Sunday, but I am getting comments from people at work saying I've lost weight. The same people were saying that when I had put weight on though. On the low side, I went shopping for a posh frock for my work's summer ball last night and was really downheartened. There wasn't a great selection in the shops, but I tried on one dress and had to go UP a size. It looked really nice on, but it would be sooo depressing to spend 130 quid on a size 20 dress. That is so the wrong direction for me.
Jenny_f, for what it's worth, my boyfriend lost 7 stone eating freezer food and going mentally on the exercise bike.0 -
hello everyone, room for a huge one? I've flitted with losing weight for the last how ever many years but this week after watching the biggest loser on tv i did a silly thing and turned my stones into lbs and then nearly died of shock. It seems to have done the trick because since i did it all i've thought about is how much i weigh so something good must have happened.
I've previously joined caloriecounter (?) but never really did anything with it so i shall be starting it again properly when i get home tonight.
I got gym membership for my birthday and christmas pressy and i'm ashamed to say that i've not gone yet, i've built it up into a massive deal but i WILL be going this week. Just need to get rid of the monthly visitor before then (sorry for the tmi)
sorry for the essay, Dragon does know me but i thought i should introduce myself, won't be offended if you all ignore this.0 -
