Caution WEBWORKS acts as a spiders web, once in you have to pay more to get out.0

We do web design we had a client they took £100 off her card to transfer a site we now have another new client with them who wants to leave, trying to transfer the domain name via nominet without paying web works but know if they get wind of it they will take the £100 immediately as before, so try to get in place first then cancel the credit card they have details of then move the site, fingers crossed they are a rip off company for sure.
Really wondering if anyone else had any experience of this company as I am intending to take them to the small claims court. I work for a firm of solicitors and even though I am on maternity leave they are going to handle it for me free of charge so if there is anyone else out there who have been ripped off by these people we could sue them together if you wish.[/QUOTE]0 -

Cancelling the credit card may not stop them taking future payments. They've probably set up a CPA, which means they may be able to take payments if the card is reported lost or stolen or even if the credit card account is closed. Details here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/recurring-payments.
Your client should contact the card issuer and tell them they wish future payments to the company cancelled. Unfortunately the system isn't very robust and future payments might slip though, but your client will be able to request a refund from the card provider.
Your client should also be aware that stopping payments doesn't end their contractual agreement with the company.0 -
I personally feel i recieved a good service from this company i think it may be the fact they have a high turnover of staff ive mentioned all these worrying comments to my account manager luke and he said some comments are from past employees and some of which left to make thier own company. perhaps some people get left due to the turnover because they dont have an account manager to look after them....but i was recommended by a friend and we both have outstanding websites and service i would recommend asking for a employee called Luke if you ring up hes an established member of staff very professional, my sites now live number 1 on google and ive had a few comments from customers already. its worrying that something might happen to me but hes always told me exactly what im getting and been very helpful i'd recommend them. as for extorionate renewal rates, have you ever seen other companys ?? my first site was with yell.com and i feel they abused my trust in thier brand name, i was paying £60 a month and £250 startup fee's and my friend had exactly the same paying a different amount, how can that be ??? and the webworks site is even better. When it comes to websites it seems to be hit and miss, id say you get what you pay for but sometimes that isn't the case. i disagree if the company is employying staff that do things that some of these comments are stating but ive been treat fairly....so far ha. my recommendation if you have a site with them or looking to get one speak with luke.

Hi Angie32, I just looked at your website and it is lovely. But it says it was created by Webahead Internet Ltd, not Webworks.0 -

Yes I have!!!! They have had me paying £260+ every year for the last 4 years. They took money from my account originally before I had agreed to sign up with them. I was then trapped. Every year since then they have issued a dated renewal letter but then taken the money several weeks before this date leaving my business cash flow in a bad way!! The website has so far given me ZERO publicity, no contacts, now they want me to pay my renewal. I have told the bank to NOT allow the payment. And instructed Webworks to sign over to another web developer. They rang angry and were shouting about copyright and that I owed them a years money.. A buy out. I have not paid. i expect a fight. I would be interested in hearing from anyone if they have been successful in getting them off their backs without paying and how they have done this. They are crooks alright!!!0

I was told we had to pay another £600.00 to go on googles front page, I said no and have since gone to another company0
