    hmmm ... a 1st time poster, praising a company from a year ok - ....

    Mark

Was thinking the same thing Mark .
From my experience they are a bunch of bandits who think they have you over a barrel !!
  • I personally feel i recieved a good service from this company i think it may be the fact they have a high turnover of staff ive mentioned all these worrying comments to my account manager luke and he said some comments are from past employees and some of which left to make thier own company. perhaps some people get left due to the turnover because they dont have an account manager to look after them....but i was recommended by a friend and we both have outstanding websites and service i would recommend asking for a employee called Luke if you ring up hes an established member of staff very professional, my sites now live number 1 on google and ive had a few comments from customers already. its worrying that something might happen to me but hes always told me exactly what im getting and been very helpful i'd recommend them. as for extorionate renewal rates, have you ever seen other companys ?? my first site was with yell.com and i feel they abused my trust in thier brand name, i was paying £60 a month and £250 startup fee's and my friend had exactly the same paying a different amount, how can that be ??? and the webworks site is even better. When it comes to websites it seems to be hit and miss, id say you get what you pay for but sometimes that isn't the case. i disagree if the company is employying staff that do things that some of these comments are stating but ive been treat fairly....so far ha. my recommendation if you have a site with them or looking to get one speak with luke. :o Angie Holistics

Excuse me, i never write on forums or anything else for that matter. however these posts almost made me never sign up to this company in the first place. which im happy i did actually who are you to question me, this is why i dont use these public forums, hear about smart !!!!!! sat behind a computer thinking they know everything.

    holistictherapist-angi.co.uk

is my website and im number one in thirsk searches and it does perfectly for me in comparison to yell.com and many others.

i think if anything you need to read and troll the other people on here advertising websites whilst complaining about a company ive found decent, and is still active so this post or forum or whatever is still relevent.

anyway im not checking this forum again i said my bit. however i will be back if they decide to screw me over in any way shape or form to do the complete oposite.

  • furthermore just looked at the majority of the complaints are first time posters and people also miraculously make websites too so my account manager might even be right that they are the competition or past employees so don't scrutinize my posts for being a first time poster thank you very much.

but how many post the 1st post on an 8 year old thread defending the company they was the cause of the thread.
  • I was going to use Webworks for a new website and thank god I didn't!! They are a bunch of crooks. The guy in charge - G Brigan goes by four different names!! Of that doesn't send alarm bells then I don't know what does. I did my research on them and found that they keep your credit card details - on paper in a filing cabinet!!! Surely this is illegal -
I suggest anyone with webworks stops because they are doing things that aren't legal. Please keep away from them - I decided to use a freelance web designer and have had no problems at all. Yes it was a little more but the benefits have reaped in!
  • The person fronting this company (Gerard Brogan, although he uses other aliases) has been involved with numerous failed companies.
The odious little creep is a serial conman and leopards do not change their spots.
This company has the worst attitude to customer care imaginable and will rip you off as soon as look at you. DO NOT touch them with a ten foot pole, the internet is awash with bad reports on them, they should be jailed.
  • Greetings. Don't know if I'm a first time poster, and TBH i don't really care. But here is my experience of these muppets.
They cold called some years ago telling me that they were acting on behalf of the good garage scheme, of which we are members.
They said that they were the approved website developers for them and that we get a discounted price for being members.

The price was to be £200 for a fully bespoke site, optimised etc, etc, etc.
We went along with it as that was cheap at the time. After over a year, the site was still not live, and they could not comprehend what we wanted.I refused to pay the renewal fee as i stated that we hadn't even had a site go up so they still owed me a years subscription.
After much arguing they agreed and finally the site went live.

Three months ago they started with the renewal slur again (we have been live for almost two years now) as my contract comes to an end in December.
I told them that i was not going to renew as the business is going Limited and the site needs overhauling, and that i have someone else to do this.
They must have rang at least ten times to try and up grade me, each time i said no.
Today i called them to reiterate that when the contract ends in December, i will not be renewing and that i want a copy of my site, as agreed in the original contract that they do not own the copyright to the material that i supplied.
I was told that i will be charged £199 for the site, and a further £99 to transfer my domain address.
I explained that i own the address, and have done so since before their company existed, and that as i supplied and wrote 75% of the content it belongs to me not them.
After a few words were exchanged, i basically told them where to get off and that i would rather pay to have a new site build from scratch than pay them for my material.

I still have the emails where i sent them the info that i wanted put on the site, so we shall see if they want to have a battle for copyright infringement.
I have checked with namesco about my domain names and they do indeed belong to me.

I cant believe that they operate this way. If i did i would be out of business.
Here's another joke from them. Each year with renewal, i can only have changes made once, anything after that i have to pay extra for!
Not bad for the £248 + VAT!!!

    Also be warned!!!!!
They keep hold of the card details that you give them, which as anyone who has a terminal knows is illegal!!!
  • Currently in the process of The Small Claims Track with MCOL.

Looking to see if anyone else has taken Webworks Internet (UK) Limited to court regarding them not providing them the service or the service that they have provided be inadequate?
