  • Hi,

I wonder if somebody could point me in the right direction.

For the past 4 years i have run my own small business and have had a web site with this company since then.
Not being at all web design or google savvy I wouldnt know if my site is working or not? I rarely get any work from my web site allwaysglazing.co.uk as far as I'm aware.
Is there a way to check if it's working correctly without costing me more money as times are hard as most know. I used to be with yell but thought if I paid a bit more towards my site that I may not need to spend that out?
    Please could somebody help?

    Best regards
    Joe

Hi Glasschap, I have recently started up my own digital marketing company after working within the industry and I may be able to help you there and certainly advise where you may be able to save money and what to use and not to use in order to get your site noticed.

I'm not sure if this forum would see this as an advert on my part so not allow it so rather than rocking the boat, I have sent you a PM.

I have had four years chasing Webworks internet for a website that I needed updating. They had originally set it up in 2006 and I was happy with the service then, as the designers took care and were very prompt. However their service has gone down hill and I have just had someone called Yasser shouting down the phonne and telling me I was a liar for claiming that I had called them when they had not got it logged on their sstem that I called.

Iam a busy therapist who knows nothing about setting up a website why would I have time to sit for days on the phone calling a premium rate number to try and find out what had happened to my £600 that I paid for updating my website to an online shop. Well to the best of my ability I did chase them, but to no avail, and they are telling me they have no log of this!

I am told that £600 is very good value for a shop, but that is if you actually get what you paid for! They went backwards and forwards complaining that they could only give me a paypal account, when I specified that I actually wanted world pay account. this took a couple of months for them to get back to me, and I am not the worlds best at chasing things. I was at the time a single working mum, and I couldn't sit for hours while they faffed about on the phone.

they tell me they won't refund the money I have paid so far, as they could offer me a shop but I would have to pay a further £200, then this week they called me back saying it would be £450 plus vat to update it to a shop because they would have to buy extra software and further work would have to be done to make a worldpay site.

In the mean time my new husband has heard hours of me trying to tell them I am not happy and want my money refunded or for them to do the work, or for my website to be transfered for free, both of which they are refusing.... and has become completely enraged and actually told me to put the phone down on them because they are criminals who lie and cheat people who have not got enough knowledge to set up their own websites and they prey on people just like me. I will probably lose a lot of work while my site is down, and they might just close it with no notice. All in all completely unsatisfactory and their customer service sucks. I feel completely helpless, but know I want control of my own website in future.

if you click on it you will see its completely out of date:(
So if you know what is good for you, get a local person who you can go to to do your website, even if it costs a bit more that way you know what you will be getting.

  • I have been with webworks internet for over 5 years now and have never in my entire lifetime been dissapointed or let down by the company. The staff are friendly and easy to understand on the phone and have helped me with all my questions. There was a few aspects of the internet and being online which i didnt understand and couldnt get the hang of but the people at webworks made it clear and almost so simple so i could get my head round things. The company has been punctual, helpful, and outstanding in my opinion with any query i may have. Everytime i have rang up to change something on my website whether it be to move a picture or change the layout the staff have had the changes done within 24 hours free of charge. Welldone webworks internet theres a lot of bad media out there about certain companies so this is my way of saying thankyou.

    Thanks Steve Marshall.

Do not touch Webworks Internet with a barge pole. They are basically a sales company, not a web design company. They will rip you off with templates that they have probably not even designed themselves. They prey on the vulnerable and those that can't afford a proper website (i.e. by a reputable design agency).

I felt the need to post this, even though it's an old thread, as this forum thread comes up high on google when you search Webworks Internet.

They have a pushy sales team, and will sell you 'Search Engine Optimsation' that doesn't work, as well as other extras, and is pretty much fraudulent.

You will notice the only people defending them have only ever posted once.

    Avoid!
    Current Debt:
    Mortgage
    31/12/12 - £78,075.68, 31/12/13 - £76,149.82
    01/02/15 - £66,356.11 :j , 01/07/15 - £39,900 (woooooooooo)
Target mortgage free date: 1st May 2019. Funds to pay it by December 2017 (but would have to pay tax back on some shares).
  • If you are thinking about getting yourself a website walk away now! Do not even go with this company, They take your money and run! To try and get them to do changes to your site you will have more luck getting blood from a stone!!! Customer service is Non existent! I don't think they even know the meaning of the word Customer Service.
They called me to ask if I wanted a website for £100 + VAT I was thinking that does not sound bad.
They sent me some forms, I filled them out and sent them back and waited and waited and waited, And 3 months later after loads of phone calls!! me phoning them up I had a four page website up and running, But the email did not work ! After more chasing phone calls and them telling me it was not a problem there end i
I logged into my account only to find out they had spelt my email address wrong!!!
I then paid £150 for 2 more pages on the site, Sent the information and you never guess what I had to chase them they said I had not sent them the information, When they eventually found the information they did not complete all of the pages correctly, When you phone them up they did not seem to think there was a problem and the site was ok, And never once called back to see if I was happy!
They only completed the pages when my years contract was up when I said I was going to leave they sorted it out!!! And said they had new staff in the company and the structure of Webworks Internet had changed!
Pigs might fly springs to mind!
The second year was much the same, me chasing them to do things all the time!

When I moved on from Webworks and took my domain name with me they charged me £120 leaving fee, It was the best £120 I have ever spent leaving Webworks internet.
Think long and hard before going with Webworks, They are hard work and tell you anything to keep you happy!

Well i would avoid webworks internet hosting. Term and conditions state.

"Domain transfer requests - provided all details are correct and procedures followed by the customer - will be carried out by Webworks Internet assuming all outstanding invoices/balances have been settled by the customer with Webworks Internet.

In the event of a customer wishing to transfer their domain name to another Internet Service Provider (ISP), a small transfer charge equal to the current annual hosting charge will become payable.”
Acting for my friend who knows nothing about websites
they wanted it transferred to my Hosting, the same Internet Service Provider i.e fasthosts who they use and who i have an account with, yet they still want £100 to transfer the service, clearly breaking their own T&Cs.
They Also paid for SEO yet in some image ALT tags throughout the site they are using another company name they host in this sites ALT tags, nothing to do with this website.
I advised my friend seek legal advice as as far as i am concerned the seo service is at fault so too the fee to transfer to same ISP.
To end with their reply is " just call me back with a yes or no"
Great customer service NOT. In My Opinion i would say Do Not Use webworks internet and certainly do check your page content as they use a template which will be the same as others they host. You may be a builder with a pizza shop in your image tags a massive seo mistake! Oh and you would have paid for it!
They also charged for the domain name renewal end of year one, when the initial registration was paid for two year renewal. There answer was well we need to make money. The tone of voice on the phone is also not pleasant when you wish to leave.
You would also have thought that after paying for SEO optimisation and adding new pages (upgrading) they would have updated the sitemap for the site, but no, not even the basic updating to point search engines to new page was done. The last update to that was 2 years ago 2011! Even worse the CD they provide with the code actually had the sitemap for this other company in the image ALT tags not the one for the account in question. Shocking!
    Caveat emptor
  • Yes U are right this company is an absolute joke ,

They seem to believe that they are able to take peoples money and not provide anything for it.we did not even get a site and we are six months in to our contract, they prey on busy people like me thinking we will just pay and go away. get ready webworks internet I come in to my own when I am in a courtroom .I am going to make time for your company I think you deserve my undivided attention!
    AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
