MORPH3US wrote:Seen quite a bit on the misprices thread about people spotting out of date price SEL's.
How do I tell if an SEL is out of date? I assume it has a date or some kind of code on?
So if I find an out of date SEL, I should then use the price scanner to see what it scans at and then get R&R if it is scanning at diff price to SEL???!?!
Thanks
M
Spot on. Do bear in mind though that the SEL itself doesn't HAVE to be out of date, It could, of course, just be wrong.

OK, the problem with the SELs for the Xbox 360, PS2 and PSP offers is that the £10/20 only comes off with certain games. The SEL does not indicate this - it says "& Game". There is only one game with the Xbox 360 that will cause the reduction at the tills. There are two with the PS2 (Reservoir Dogs and a sports game). I don't know how many there are with the PSP, though. The POS does not indicate which games are in the offer (this is indicated by the yellow SEL under the actual games - if a game doesn't have a yellow SEL, it's not part of the offer and won't bring about the discount at the till). Right now, this is a problem nationally. The POS is wrong (it's not out of date), which results in an overcharge on any console bought with a game that is not in the offer.
I grabbed a PS2 plus game for free a few hours ago, so I'm a happy bunny. No arguments from management, either. In fact, the woman was very apologetic. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

ben500 wrote:..... the burdon would be on the complainant to prove the customer was aware that the overcharge was about to take place and did nothing to prevent or bring it to the vendors attention and then the proof requirement would have to demonstrate premeditation ie the customer actively seeking out a mispriced item, it would be difficult if not impossible to use any posts on this forum to back up an allegation but it may provide a circumstantial link. Tesco having committed the original offence could be said to be responsible for any subsequent offence, could with a little skill be demonstrated to be an incitement.
Surely if Tesco use this thread to show someone was actively looking for mis-prices to take knowing advantage of their policy, then the fact that they admit at store/management/corporate level that they know this mis-priced thread exists and 'monitor' it, they must have known about the mis-prices/gliche, so why didn't they make sure all the stores put it right.
Take the Suduko GBA game. This has been cropping up for WEEKS now, Tesco have had adequate time to make sure all their stores display only the correct price, they clearly haven't. If they argue that you bought it knowing it would be a mis-price, then equally Tescos kept it on the shelves knowing they were advertising a lower price than what they intended to charge ? If their own cs system didn't let them know, then WE did on this thread!
Months ago I got the same item R&Rd about 2 weeks apart. Wrong sel removed, no sel for a couple of weeks, then wrong sel appears back again. How was I supposed to know Tesco hadn't genuinely lowered the price ? None of the self scanners worked in this store, so I couldn't have checked if I had wanted to , I just thought I would give it a whirl - couldn't believe it was overcharged AGAIN.
Also if they try to use this thread as 'evidence' there must be hundreds of posts of mis-prices where posters report the wrong sel is not removed, surely that is 'evdence' that their over pricing is widespread, and even when stores are made aware of overpricing, courtesy of an R&R, Tescos do not demonstrate a strong desire to remove THEIR misleading pricing. They knowingly continue overcharging shoppers. It is not an oversight, or "someone forgot to remove an old sel". They have KNOWINGLY left a misleading sel etc on display.
Of course this doesn't help lift your ban, presumably they can ban who they like, for whatever reason they want, much like landlords have the right to refuse to serve you etc.
Would hate if it happened to me......I think I may keep my nose clean for a couple of weeks, well if I can resisit the temptation0 -

Caister's not very good at changing the booze SELs.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

sorry long post but may save people searching for xbox offers, and claryfy psp offer.
NO £10 off at till.....paid £249.94 should have been £239.94. told to collect from customer services.
Couldnt find gigapack in safe so I asked could I have base unit instead.
He agreed and refunded £70 (the difference)
Left shop - returned and said "think I been overcharged" if I purchased both together then £10 off.
Claimed offer only for normal and he would need to rescan - as no normal on display, i said it states PSP consol not the normal one only , anyway he agreed to scan core system and special addition xbox 360 , with the prey game, to prove it was just for consols not packs which deducted the £20 on both :-)
When he scanned the normal PSP or gigapack with the game - no £10 off.
(so I should have had my £10 off on initial purchase)
Duty manager wouldnt make desision on R&R after i pointed it out when they offered £10 back....phoning tommorrow after discussion with store manager.....hope I get it now - fingers crossed.
Offer on PSP and Cars game said week commencing 25/08/2006 so other stores may not discount also.....hope you bag some.!!!!
will I be offered the game for free or the lot or nothing !!!!! any thoughts ??
I jumped out of bed when I saw this and raced heart pounding to Tesco.
The sign says xbox and ps2 - no mention of psp with £10 off at all. Back to bed!0 -

Forgive me if Im getting this all wrong, I rarely visit this thread, but when I do I often wonder why the hell it is here in the first place?.
What is it that people dont understand about this?. How much simpler can it be?. All these scaremongeres, and worriers, saying "if bought in good faith" or "they have to prove you intentionally bought it because price was wrong" - for goodness sakes, what are you babbling on about, how much simpler could it be? If you got charged the wrong price, you get the refund and the product for free, whether you bought it intentionally or not. If you get a jobsworth or the SA from hell, complain about them to head office.
Thats it. No more discussion needed. No need to feel guilty about the whole episode. Everything is legal and above board.
Now, can we close this thread?0 -
