I certainly intend taking this as far as I can go.......would you think email would be accepted (rather than snail mail).

I remember someone else on here emailing his secretary and getting a response. It was quite a while ago, mind you. Personally, I'd do both - just to make sure! The other thing you need to check is the position of the "manager" who dealt with you. The hierarchy and bureaucracy in Tesco is unbelieveable. You've got no end of store staff with manager titles - Food manager, Non-Food Manager, Produce Manager, ATMs, etc, etc, etc...the list goes on and on. Any one of the managers can be down as "Duty Manager" for the day. You more than likely didn't deal with the Store Manager at all.

Same here but with a PSP and a PS2 from one store. The manager was totally off with me so got a full refund and told them I will shop elsewhere.

I did just that and went to another tesco and bought a 360 and a ps2, they offered me a discount off the games so I went again to another tesco and tried there. This time i got a free game.

Complained to ho and they confirmed to me that they are all wrong ang I was right so they will get back to me.
Which stores? (So I can avoid going in and trying it...;) )

To those conspiracy theorists out there: I know people who work in Tesco who go to other stores to R&R, or get their OHs to get them from other stores. Yep, there are many Tesco employees reading this thread, but a lot of them aren't here in order to stop you getting your R&Rs...they're here to get them for themselves, too! :D

Gt. Yarmouth, Stalham and Blue Boar. All in Norfolk

Yarmouth refused? Wow... Did you get the name of the manager who refused you? I've never known Yarmouth to refuse an R&R. There are a couple of really evil cows on CS who moan and groan and argue the toss, but they never normally manage to get out of R&Ring. I actually put in a complaint about one CS there (nothing to do with R&Ring). I can't R&R in that store, as I cannot afford to get banned from there (work, etc... :( ). I don't work for Tesco, however.

Stalham's a bloody horrible store. Even the staff who work there hate it! You should have given Caister a go (not sure if they still sell electricals, mind). Whilst in Norwich, you should have tried Harford Bridge. Also, remember that Lowestoft has 2 stores and is only 10 miles south of Yarmouth. Beccles isn't far, either. Dereham likes to argue the toss.

Offer currently on is buy any game and Xbox or PS2 and get 20 quid off. Will it work or should I try it?
  • The price of the Xbox 360 core pack went down in my local today (or so the SEL said). It was £209, but is now showing at £199. I didn't try it, mind.

In the meantime the store security officer came down...He told me that he'd seen me getting refunds before, and they had been on to the police and infact what I was doing was fraud. I told him that it was Tesco's policy I was quoting, and was doing nothing wrong.....He admitted the prices were wrong......He offered me a £20 refund on the game, he told me I was abusing the system, and told me I can't come back into the store again. I'm barred!!!

I ended up getting a full refund....but no goods. (Still got the receipts)...I took their names in order to take the matter further.

    Are they correct?

Most stores don’t have security so you shouldn’t have any problems getting R+R’s unless there’s a sharp manager about. Stores that do have the in-store security systems in place (not agency) you should be careful of or avoid altogether.

I think the Security Officer was probably talking about Fraud by false representation in which you were purposely seeking mispriced items to purchase in bad faith. This I’m afraid you were guilty of and I am not surprised a ban was enforced.

The fact that the Security Officer has seen you doing this before means he most likely has CCTV footage of it. If you combine that with your previous posts on this forum you’ll find it gives him more then enough evidence to ensure the ban stands.

So to answer your question on whether or not they were correct in doing this I’ll say yes. I’m sure though you will still contact Head Office and give it a go but if they contact the store and the Security Officer you may find a banning notice issued to your address.

Agree about stores who use in-house security. However, the OP said that he didn't see the offer until after making his purchase. If this is the case (and it's almost impossible to prove otherwise), how can he be guilty? Also, the Data Protection Act applies to CCTV footage. Unless the OP is committing a criminal offence, the store is not allowed to keep CCTV footage of him without his permission. You assume that the OP's previous posts refer to this store and not other stores.

As for the ban, Tesco is private property, as such the store doesn't need a reason to ban anyone.

Yes you are correct, one was said to be the "non food manager", the other the "security manager"....although I've given Sir Terry a 36minute time slot...so he should be able to find them...I hope

There’s usually a big difference in truth between what people say and what people do. People aren’t usually banned after one ‘R+R’ incident but rather for a collection of them.

Bassmans previous posts would highlight his intent and character and the actions themselves will have been recorded at the stores he has visited. Bassman would not have to actually commit a criminal offence to be able to retain the CCTV footage. The CCTV footage could be retained for prevention or detection of criminal activity, or the apprehension and prosecution of offenders. The footage can be kept as long as it takes to complete evidence against him. Since bassman is now banned a photo has most likely been printed and would be used to prevent trespassing, burglary, etc.

I can’t say for certainty what would happen in this particular case and I don't know what evidence they have but I can try to shed some light on what happens on the other side of the fence.
