  • same here welshy.. nice to see you..and coupon-mad..i know this is slightly off thread.... but since my voucher use had been stunted by tescos....i now do r & r's......its my revenge for the stopping of my voucher use.... or not as many.. anyway.....but yesterday i got told that you had to buy the product for you to use a voucher.....r & r's are much sweeter...as you dont pay anything in the end PLUS they dont take the points back.....so my boob with the £99.99 phone yesterday....i gain more or less £4.00 worth points in clubcard deals..:D

welshy...they've been posted out to you.....so pm me when you get them...

    and happy r & r ing...:D

  • Cheers cooltrikerchick and like I said if there is anything I can help you with in the future, you just have to PM and ask.

Coupon-mad - did you read about yesterday DD3 got to just outside the ladies at Tescos and threw up everywhere, cost me £8.00 to buy her a new outfit and some flip-flops but yes maybe I should steer her towards the CS desk in future.

I will not try R&R at my local tescos cos ages ago for one Jem cd refund, the manager was called, I was glared at and they took my name and address ! I was absolutely mortified but being close to Cardiff I have several other places to try as long as Ben500 doesn't get there first !! (only joking)

Now any tips - for example if you do this on a regular basis surely the CS get to know you etc or do you visit at different times and different stores ?

Am feeling very disheartened with this R&R lark......my local Tescos is soooo sharp and even though I always have a good search and note what's posted on here, there's never a thing to be had - manager must read these boards!

Just found lamb joint in foil tray, SEL £3.98, pack marked £4.99 plus expired blueberry offer with stickers still in place and SEL not removed. I was shaking as I went through checkout thinking "OMG my first good R&R".......er....no! Everything scanned correctly. . And before anyone says to use the in-store scanners, my local shop doesn't have any - the only one has been out of order for as long as I can remember.

    You lot are SOOOO lucky!!!

I went into my tesco's and they have just moved all of their electrical goods upstairs. This means that you are supposed to buy them all upstairs at that checkout. This makes it difficult to get to the scanners. Also the cameras and MP3 players only have one of each on show. You cannot just pick one up and check it at the scanners. Does anyone else have this problem at their store? What do you do about it??

I think my store are particularly tight on prices at the mo. They have just been refurbished and I assume have only recently put all of the stock out with the correct labels. Perhaps I ought to wait a bit and try again. Even the Ecover was the correct price.

Think i will try a different store.

Yes I must admit I agree that R&Ring is a lot of luck. Not denying that some poster have got nerves of steel for the sheer quanitity and value of R&R's, but I am lucky to find even one of the items others mention, so a lot of it must be down to how efficient the stores are. Most of mine are really hot, and even if I manage an R&R, usually the sel is removed, either never to be replaced ( eg nescafe) or correct one appears and I never get a chance to repeat the R&R ( eg Ecover)
I don't like to get LOADS when I do spot an R&R in case I'm making myself too obvious, so my pickings from R&R have been a nice bonus, rather than a guarenteed regular discount.

With regard to price stickers on dvd/games etc, I did want to ask Tesco staff on here ( if there are any of you left!) ....
When I have had an R&R on a game, it is because they have a price sticker on them. cs staff say they are "put on at the factory" is this correct ?
If so, it means Tesco are falling foul of their own upping an downing of prices. They obviously must start out at a lower price - which is stickered on at the wholesalers/factory, and then Tesco must up the price, which is where our R&R opportunity comes in.

Another point someone mentioned was that Tescos policy is to try and avoid legal action being taken against them for overcharging. But ALL stores overcharge to some degree, and I cannot see that they are being prosecuted on a daily basis by T.Ss, and Tescos are the only one doing the R&R policy. So full marks to Tescos, at least this gives us all a chance to get a little bit extra from them :T
    MY ATTITUDE TO R&R
    1) I spend far more at Tescos now than I ever did before as I either hunt down elusive R&Rs or try to use coupons - so they do get more money out of me than I probably care to admit.
    2) I don't hunt down x-boxes etc ten minutes after midnight, or try to second guess when the price changes will be updated on the tills. My attitude is pretty much the same as Little John and gt568. It helps me get a few bits and pieces free, so I can have the odd treat ( chocolate/dvd/game) that I wouldn't otherwise afford to splash out on. I ease my conscience about how I go 'looking' for R&R's by thinking of Tescos profits, and that I personally am not doing them any real harm.
No I wouldn't take the same approach to a small independent retailer, because I know that a £20 or £30 loss would be much more harmful to them than to Tescos.
I would like to add in my own defense, I don't know how long Tesco have had their R&R policy, but I have been overcharged by them dozens of times and NEVER been offered R&R untill I 'learnt' about the policy on here. So if I am NOW actively looking for R&R's this is after YEARS of Tesco staff not honouring their own company policy - and I cannot believe all those cs staff who refunded me the difference when I returned to complain of an overcharge were ignorant of their own policy !!

Yes, I do agree it should be used as a useful extra - if we all go mad on the policy then they may well stop it - Asda did (according to my Mum who shops there). When I found that joint I nearly picked up 2 but then thought "no, I'd be too scared going to CS with more than one".

I also never go for anything that I wouldn't normally use - having just got myself debt-free, that would be a false economy! I'll keep looking when I go to get bits.....one day I'll get a little R&R! I'm always amazed when I see people with signatures saying they've R&R'd £'000s since July....how????

    Happy R&R'ing....I'll keep reading! :D
  • all the Tescos near me are always bang on with the electrical SELS, mind you I have only been paying attention for a little while so who knows ;
Just keep looking Freebird you will find something eventually, seems to be a bit dry out there at the moment anyway
  • It really does differ from store to store. There are some good ones in Cardiff, and some not so good ones. Some are spot on ALL the time, and others have out od date SELs up to a month old.
  • went into Tesco today for a few bits, did not see any R&R's at all today :(

did see a bloke going round with a hand held scanner checking all the prices tho'.......did briefly enter my mind to smack him round the head with a tin of soup, but thought better of it...... :D

Unless I'm much mistaken (Tesco employees feel free to jump in), the scanners are not much use unless the overnight download occurs for which they need to be connected. This updates the price to the individual scanner.

Taking one therefore would be useless unless you had access to the updates and found some means of recharging it.
