Pension credits are means tested so you need to include your income and pension. You are best going to the cab who will be able to give you a thorough benefits check!
  • something the benefits people dont seem to take into consideration is what happens when a child leaves full time education. They can claim jobseekers, which maybe pays for a bus pass and some food, but all the other expense of living is incurred by the parents, who can no longer claim anything to help support the new adult living in their home for free.
If you have several children and they cannot find work, then you could have to clothe, feed and supply electricity etc. to a house full of adults with no financial help at all..
this is the problem I now face, with one child out of college and unemployed, and another soon to join him, our finances are soon to be stretched beyond breaking point.

    single/white/male/mortgage?
    forget it....
there's no help anywhere that I can see...
we are ignored by the system when requiring help
but prop up the system with our taxes when working...
    it's about time we had a working-class civil revolt.

i'm having a bit of trouble with the '5 minute checker' thing. reason being, the info i'm being asked to give isn't relevent at minute.
i'm looking to move in with my g'friend and her 2 yr old son. i work full time (for the moment at least!!) and earn £15900 + upto 10% bonus (£17490 p/a max)
she's on full benefits, income support, child benefit, child tax credit, housing benefit, coucil tax beneift and also the water board pay 1/2 of her bill (don't know why like)
what would we gain/lose by moving in together?
i'd hate to not be able to just because it wouldn't be financially viable:(

i have shared care for my two children who are 17 (fulltime education) & 15. because i dont have the child benefits paid to me my children "dont exist" so for the time i have then they are not entitled to a bed or to be fed! my partner has been made redundant but had no pay out as only with the co 6 months. i earn £14194 gross £925 net. we are entitled to nothing! we rent our house and have no savings . we have been told we get nothing yet this site states an adult is entitled to earn £16k. how doesn it follow then that 2 adults with shared care of 2 children are expected to live off £925? Can anyone help?
