    Hi Newgirly

plans for the rest of this year are :- pay council tax and then replace the isa in that order :D

It really doesnt feel as if we are this close yet IYKWIM.

Looking forward we can then continue with the renovations that started years ago before DH lost his first job. The house is liveable but needs so many things doing that i could fill a loo roll with all the jobs :rotfl:

After all the ups and downs over the last few years it will be lovely to have some security and i`m really looking forward to that even if the work takes a long time.

Just waiting for the postie for the next few days and the next magic letter to appear now :D

    Hi Sunnyday

What you've achieved so far is amazing. Huge huge well done.

I just have a small suggestion for you. Why bother paying the council tax early? It's not as though they will give you any interest for paying it early, or charge you any interest for carrying on paying it monthly. Why not just keep paying it monthly, and start refilling the ISA as soon as you are MF? Then your money will be in the ISA for longer and you'll get more interest on it.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Hi Lydiaj

thanks for your advice, it is the most sensible option and up until about three years ago i`ve always paid the ct monthly.

We had a blip where we needed extra money when we had a huge unexpected outlay and we fell behind with the ct, we were worried that we would lose the right to pay monthly and the remainder of the balance had to be paid immediately.

Since then i`ve always tried to get a year in front with it so that if anything unexpected turned up we wouldn`t be in the same position again. Its more a psycological thing than anything else :o

Things may well change when our outgoings reduce but for this year i need it out of the way. Next year will be very different for us financially so many things will change and i shall look at doing the sensible thing and paying monthly once again.

    Thanks for reading x

I`ve had this letter for a couple of days now and i`ve only just got around to posting the contents so here`s a little update.

    New balance £1366.19
    New minimum payment £12.12
    :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

I`m hoping to pay another £700 off next month as i`ve done lots of extra work - may even manage to make it to £1000 but i`m not counting my chickens. I get paid 4 weekly so the time is coming around where all the direct debits come out of our account before my wages go in so i need to keep a careful eye on things for a while.

I`m assuming that the exit fee is paid when i make the final payment so i need to take that into account too. I shall have a nosy at my spreadsheet later when i have a bit of time to spare.

I am wondering how long i have left on my term (officially in the eyes of the lender) so i need to give them a call and ask, i also need to check that there are no unexpected penalties for paying the total outstanding balance off at any stage - i don`t think that there are but i need to be sure :D

My head is buzzing atm so i think that i need to make the calls now before i have to pop out :D

    Hi Peeps

since my last post i`ve spoken to the lender twice.

It seems that as our balance is so small we pay a reduced exit admin fee :j I was right in that the fee is normally £295 but as soon as the balance became lower than £10,000 the admin fee falls to £195 so another saving there :D

The term left officially is bang on ten years as we reduced it a while ago, i called the lender a second time today after going through all our expenses this month and i`ve managed to pay another £500 as an overpayment :j:j

This means that the balance is now £866.19 :D The normal payment will come out on the 14th od next month and then i shall see whats left when i get paid.

Sadly i`ve only two more days of overtime left now as all the leave has been taken at w*rk but i can`t grumble as its increased my wages enough to be able to get the balance right down. I am looking forward to easing off though as i seem to have been living at w*rk lately. Overtiredness has been causing me to not sleep well so i can start to get back to normal and relax a bit.
I have a day off tomorrow and the weather forecast is promising so i`m looking forward to getting outside and tidying up the garden, i shall also start off some seeds too so that my tomatoes and chillies all get a decent start.

    I think i`m in need of a cuppa :D

    Not long left now :D
