Good luck for being really focused and frugal next year
You know you can do it. I think I went all out a bit too much this year and may factor in a few breaks next year, maybe a weekend here and there possibly if I win a few cash comps haha.
Anyway wanted to wish you

Hi everyone
Happy New year everyone! This is my first post of 2011 and i`m pleased that its nice and positive, the good news is that the last of the money that DH was owed has been paid into our account :j:j
There was a deposit yesterday and i had no idea what it was from the mini statement that i got from the atm, this morning a letter arrived and the amounts match up so i`m really pleased
I have the CC payment money for this month put to one side so rather than wait until everything has been taken out of the account to pay the direct debits etc i`ve scraped every last crumb out and made the call to the mortgage company.
The OP will come out on the 12th and the mortgage payment will come out on the 14th so a whopping £2000 will disappear from the balance this month :j:j:beer::beer: Woohoo!!!
When the letter arrives i`ll post the new balance and min payments etc, the balance as usual is a teensy weensy bit less than my spreadsheet shows so i`ll adjust that when the postie has delivered the letter.
I`ll have a stupid grin on my face for the rest of today now

:D:j:j
I`ve just opened the first letter which arrived this morning, there should be another one sometime next week for the other payment.
New minimum monthly payment is now £100.02Obviously this is never going to happen whilst everything is running smoothly, the new total balance is now £11,365.44 WOOP!
I`m willing the balance down, i`m sooo thrilled with the progress so far.
Last night DH and i were discussing holidays for this year and have decided that if we do go away it will be really late on in the year, and have agreed that the mortgage is the main goal. I`m so glad that he`s agreed to this - i think that the main reason is because he`s getting fed up with me harping on about it :rotfl:
Now another decision for me to make is this, i`ve a small amount of savings which i`ve saved towards this years council tax bill, i`ve got enough to just cover it but i don`t need to start making any CT payments until April, i can`t decide whether or not to use some of it to overpay the mortgage and then save it back up again *scratches chin*
I think that i`ll sleep on it a few times and then decide

Hi Peeps
tis me again, the postie has arrived this morning but still no second letter so i can`t post the exact figures from that, Boo - i was looking forward to seeing it, however there is more excitement
I slept on the dilemma of whether or not to use some of the council tax money for a few nights and still couldn`t decide *rolls eyes* cue further discussion between DH & myself. I`m really surprised because now that the balance is dropping he is really getting on board when before he has hardly shown any interest and had a sort of do what you think best kind of attitude.
He suggested that we use all of the money that i`ve saved towards the council tax and also the money that we have saved towards having new front and back doors this year
TBH i was so stunned that i didn`t answer straight away but later i started to look at the figures. I think that as he leaves all the money side of things to me its easy for him to say that as he hasn`t seen the saving side of this where the pot creeps up each month and i get the satisfaction and security of knowing that its there nestling away ready for when its needed.
After a bit more thought and playing around with the spreadsheet i decided that the new doors can wait another year if needs be and this will take the mortgage term down so much that we can pay the council tax monthly until the mortgage has gone and then pay the rest off in a lump sum the first month that we don`t have a mortgage payment to make
Yesterday i went to the bank and moved the money from the other two accounts into the joint one that the DD is paid from and this morning i`ve phoned the mortgage company to set up a one off DD for the capital payment. On Friday the payment will be made and another £3300 will disappear from the mortgage
I can`t wait to see the contents of the letter with the new balance on when it arrives :j:j:j
That amount includes an extra £300 that i had planned to pay off next month which will save me another phone call. The planned payment for next month all in is £700. I get paid on Friday which is why its possible for me to do this now so its all worked out really well.
On Friday the balance of the mortgage should be £7365.10 :j:j:j
Looking at my spreadsheet we are well on track to pay it off this year, its fab that we`ve got off to a flying start too. Bit sad that i`ve only £100 of savings left but at least i`ve something to use as a backup for anything unexpected. I`ve also saved an extra £60 this month on the grocery challenge which has been lumped into the pot towards the OP and i`m on track to do the same next month too
This months wage will be rubbish beacause of how my shifts fell over Christmas but i`ve got some overtime to work so the payday in Feb should be a bit better
I`ve also discovered that another small amount of work has been taken away from us and moved elsewhere so instead of worrying about whether my job will last much longer i`m turning it around to use as an incentive to reduce the mortgage as quickly as possible.
Crikey what a rambler i`ve been this morning
Anyhow, i just wanted to share the news with everyone, fingers and toesies crossed for the future
Have a terrific Tuesday peeps.

Afternoon peeps
the second letter arrived this morning with details from the last overpayment, i`ve filed it away with the others as its a bit pointless now, i`m waiting on the next one which hopefully should be here towards the end of next week
Just been on the phone with Dad who also thinks that we`ve done the right thing with the door/ct money so i`m feeling reassured there. I`m keeping away from the savings account until there`s some more money in there as in my head it still has the same balance as before :rotfl:
Thanks for your comments everyone :A they really spur me on :j:beer:
