Thank you Penny for all your hard work on this board. I haven't seen the offensive posts but I am so sorry that you have been upset. I think you have done a wonderful job as a board guide and I hope you will still keep posting as a 'civilian'. Your posts have helped and cheered me!

As this is continually directed at me I will answer this.

I DID NOT REFER TO Penelope as Hitler.

I said it was "little Hitler" style behaviour (meaning dictatorial) to close & move threads that differ from your point of view. People are very apt here at twisting things to mean what they can to cause the most offence.

Its interesting how many of the people commenting on here start their post with "I didn't actually read the thread but........." & then proceed to comment.

A witch hunt has been started on OS because a small band of people dared have a differing opinion of what food & eating are:(:(:(

Please read the threads in question before you make your judgements.

I did say in another post that maybe some others should take a break from MSE. I have read all the posts and I feel that your style of posting and the way that you push your agenda is aggressive and I wish to also add there is not a witch hunt over differences of opinion - maybe you should read through the threads again....

In all the time I have been on MSE I have never been so disgusted by the behaviour of some posters, which has compelled me to write this post.

    EM xx

I'm on no one's side, in no one's clique (my post count clearly shows that) and take each post on merit. I don't hold grudges, nor do I overlook things I disagree with just because that poster has been nice to me in the past.

I fail to see the difference between calling someone Hitler and little Hitler - you are still likening them to Hitler. The semantics play no part. If I called someone 'a terrorist' 'a little terrorist' or 'like a terrorist' it's the same thing. I am NOT calling anyone a terrorist, for the record.

ETA: not that I believe there are cliques, but I've seen that suggestion thrown round many times before

Third time I've said this, but never, ever, ever have I got the impression that eating well -'gastronomically' if you like has no place on this board. I like talking about food and cooking here precisely because I find so many people with similar attitudes to food as myself- Penny Penguin being among them.

And now I'm off to the farmshop to see if there is any local asparagus in yet which won't be cheap but will be in my basket every week until the season's over. That's what I call gastronomy:)

PenPen I just want to thank you for all the help you've given me since I joined MSE; you have posted numerous nuggets of wisdom that have made my life easier.

I hope that whatever you decide to do, all goes well for you. I'd love to see you back on the Old Style board, but I understand your decision to step back at least for now.

    Brightest blessings

My feelings exactly and that is why I voiced my confusion on the other threads. Sure people talk about eating Value curry sauce and cheap noodles but having looked at the recipe index I am glad to say there is far more in there than that sort of cheap as chips food.
To me any post about eating food that tastes nice has a place on this board regardless to whether it has expensive ingredients or not. I fail to see why it all needs to be catergorized and separated as it's all just tasty food to me.

I for one am sorry Penny has decided to bow out of MSE, she was always very helpful. Sadly being a BG seems you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Hi Penpen please don't stay away too long and please do not change your way of doing things. You were in no way in the wrong in this whole debacle.
I have been following all of the posts and side threads and could see exactly where you were coming from and why you took the actions you took.
I love and admire OS and enjoy just how different peoples opinions can be, and their right to voice them. However, how you voice your opinions is quite a different matter! As soon as personal insults (inferred or compared) and that old cop out way of "telling it straight" and " telling it like it is" while being persistently critical to the point of attack comes into play we need someone like you to call a stop to it.
Remember Penpen for every one poster who crosses the line there are dozens more who like yourself make this forum a joy to be on.
For all who are quick to judge what the BGs do, you try it!
