Some banks now have self service coin pay in machines, so rather than taking it to the supermarket and paying a % or trying to spend them, you can dump all the coins into the machine and the amount gets credited directly to your bank account no charges, no cashier rolling her eyes at you, literally only takes 2 minutes too.

Or you can put your change in the self service tills at tesco and they don't look at you in a funny way for putting so many coppers in.

Lol, I once paid for a basket full of 2-5p reduced veg items at the a Tesco self service checkouts with coppers that I'd been carrying round in the hope of eventually getting to the bank! My bf was mortified but it saved me a trip to the bank.

When I'm almost at the end of a bottle of conditioner I pour a small amount (equal to what's left in conditioner) into the bottle the night before I want to use it. Put the lid on and give it a good swish round and making sure the cap is on tight leave it upside down till you're ready to use it that way you won't waste a drop.

  • Someone once posted on here or the original thread to always check your receipt as soon as you leave the supermarket checkout but before you leave the store. I don't know who it was, but thank you.

Went to my local supermarket yesterday, and when I checked my receipt after leaving the checkout, I saw I had been charged for the wrong product. The other product was £0.05 dearer, which I know won't break the bank, but it was my £0.05, and I got it back immediately from the customer service desk. So I strongly recommend that people check their receipts before they leave the supermarket.

  • Yep def need to do this more often especially if you buy something that's reduced many times I've had to bring item back to get it sorted last time i did remember to check before I left store I'd been charged full price again
another reason for checking is getting charged for three lots of milk but only getting 2 that one cant be corrected once you've left the store and it's been happening a lot recently so i now go through self scanner til and take my time anything with a reduced ticket gets done last in case
it doesn't scan correct this alone saves lots

Always, always check your receipts, too late when you get home, and you tend not to bother for small errors. My sister has stopped shopping at Aldi as the last twice they have not taken her £5 coupon off, she lives quite some distance from the store, last time she had a rough idea of what spent, challenged the cashier who said "sorry forgot" not good enough.
Do I need it or just want it.

I did my supermarket shopping last night. I go to Tesco around 4pm once a week.
First I look at all the diffrent area's of reduced, Then get what is on my small shopping list, then check out.

I spent 24 pounds on food items and 20 pounds on non food.
The most costly items are x2 9 pck velvet toilet rolls 3.75 each. I tend to buy enough to last so do not buy every week.

I now brand down on shopping a lot more. I bought him indoors x4 deoderant. x2 branded = compressed Sure @ 3.29 on BOGOF so 1.64 each and then x2 Tesco own brand @ 1.25 and 1 pound.
Bought myself the shops own x1 Tesco Pro formula crystal deoderant 1.25.

I bought a bag of 50 mixed daffidol bulbs for 3 pounds. We all love the spring garden after the long cold winter.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

It might be obvious common sense but I try to give close to exact money when paying in cash. Less likely to have your change diddled.

Why not try Nikki 3 ply toilet rolls from Farmfoods/Poundstretcher/B&M (2x9 packs) costing £4. Thus you would have saved £3.75;)
