Another vote for Nikky. I bought my first ever pack recently and am happy with the quality and extremely happy with the price. Sorry puppy you've just slipped into 2nd place!0

There's some small convenience store chains (Day Today, Key) sometimes have the Nicky toilet roll and kitchen roll on offer. Worth checking online then you won't have to go far.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Be really careful with toiletries, I was stung many years ago buying deodorant for £1 in Wilkos. It was a good price till I walked into Boota a few doors down and they had it on Bogof at 1.25!

Good Advice - I make stuffing by blitzing bread crusts in my processor & adding finely chopped onion and any herbs that I fancy & half a pound of sausage meat (or a pound if you want to have some over to freeze) I've added chopped apricots to go with lamb & the wrinkly apple left in the fruit bowl to go with pork! I just add some boiling water (your veg water idea is good) & put it in a pie dish & spoon over some of the juices from the meat so the top doesn't go dry & bung it in the oven anywhere there's room! Always goes down a treat & can be used as a sandwich filling with a bit of pickle too.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

It's worth checking the sizes, I bought a branded body lotion it the £ shop thinking I'd got a bargain, then discovered the container was almost a third smaller than the same brand in Boots or Superdrug. Branded toothpaste and shampoo is often also smaller.0 -
when cooking remember to put lids on pots as what you're cooking will cook faster and use less energy. I usually swap the lids for our dinner plates near the end of cooking to heat them up.
If you're trying to use up that last yoghurt etc instead of one person having it I usually will split the last yoghurt between 2 small bowls with some fruit for OH and I. A very small piece of cheese? I grate it, along with some carrot and onion and mix with a little mayo or salad cream and use as a sandwich filler. One slice of cake can be split and served with custard. Even one egg can be split, either make an omelette and add any veg and you have a small breakfast omelette or snack for two or add milk and scramble the egg and put onto a slice of toast or roll for a snack for two. If you think a portion looks mean serve it in a smaller bowl or plate. We started doing this again recently and our waste has really gone down.
If you like wearing nail varnish then keep your bottle of nail varnish in the fridge. It will go on more smoothly and you'll use less.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Trying to tell my OH this is like banging my head against a brick wall - his response is "but it boils over!" - yes, that's the point! It keeps the heat in so you can turn it down instead of putting it on high!!“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. I've never thought of using dinner plates to warm them up though, what a good tip, thanksNow thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0

I always use my dinner plate as the lid of my stacking saucepan set, but throughout the cooking process, not just at the end. Saves on washing up the pan lid. Mum does this with up to 5 plates at a time on her gas stove (the pan supports on gas stoves are more than capable of handling the weight).
Yesterday, I drained off a pot of pasta which I'd pre-soaked in cold water for 90 mins (brings cooking time down to 1-2 mins) down the sink plughole which I'd filled with soda crystals to flush out the pipe. Saves boiling a kettle just for this purpose.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I'm with you on the pan lids kboss, my DH is the same and drives me bonkers. Also I have to work hard on keeping the condensation down in our house so again lids are better.
The soaking pasta is a good idea GQ, will try it though I already turn off the heat after boiling point to save energy. Using the boiling water after - genius too and another tip to add to my collection. Cheers!0
