When oh is on the bus. He picks up people's leftover newspaper.
Also wanted to let people know that have I have changed to ebico. As I'm on a water meter I am careful with the shower settings. Now it only costs a penny in gas and water is hot.
I have a combi boiler with the setting low.
Only been on ebico one week but have now been sent an email by mse to say that would save money.
Took 6 weeks to change but was very straight forward.grocery challenge 9.86/600 -
:jPanic over!
I lost half my settings on my desk top computer this week.
Inclucing hotmail and some of my faverotes.
I had been tidying uo the desk top and deleted some old programs.
Must have pressed a wrong button
I was going through what shall I do next?
Put in some back up disks I found.
Talked about a repair man or buying a new computer.
Had another go at pressing buttons.
Finaly found a " restore your computer to an earlier date".
Bingo! triggered something.
it is back to how it was.
No spending my pennies. So thankful. I use my desk top and ipad a lot. :jThe secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -

before you know it there will be a letter from old supplier and ebico will tell you your start date.
then ebico ask you to tell them meter readings. when you get new card. leave until credit from old supplier is finished. put new card in to activate. then go to paypoint to top up. job done.
very happy i changed.grocery challenge 9.86/600 -

Re sunscreen - I found a 'stash' of out of date suncreams so I put them all in an old pump bottle with a good shake to use as moisturiser. Works quite well BUT I'm sensitive to sun & tend to get patches on my arms that look as if I've been scalded (although they don't irritate or hurt - just look 'orrible) This year I've found that I havn't erupted so I can only think that there was still some protection left in the creams & they were WELL out of date too!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

At least £150 big difference i shall be on the phone first thing monday he is trying to save hes even using his solar panels
In the flat so its free electric
Hi I am in a similar situation, ground floor flat housing association (formerly council) with solar panels. I have a water meter here I got it fitted. The rules were if the meter was outside the property it could be changed, if it was inside it needed the landlord's permission. (Ironically when I changed from prepaid to credit gas and elec meters I checked with the housing association and they said it was between me and the utility companies how I paid them!) As for savings on water meters I would be surprised if he had none, I paid £20 pm first year, then £10pm for last year £22 pm this year average of £17 per month. I try to be sensible with water.
Tip with solar panels to get most with the use things one at a time i,e, boil kettle first then use toaster then put washing machine on. They work by producing enough wattage to power things that use that amount of wattage. So if it produces 1500w you can run a 1500w kettle for free. You can then after run a 900w toaster free. But if you use both together you pay for the toaster. When buying items look at the wattage if using them with solar panels. Energy efficient kettles can be high wattage - they save on overall elec they use- this means these are no use with solar panels. Basically it is worth having two one for day light, one for evenings and dark mornings. Another tip is to change lamp bulbs to energy saving ones- in here in my lounge I have two main lights (both energy bulbs) it is either both on or neither, I instead try to use my lamp which has just 1 energy bulb in thus halving my usage. Turn off any electrical equipment such as microwaves, printers, chargers which are not using as they will eat into the wattage allowance.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0 -
Save all of your (pre-washed) carrot and potato peelings, broccoli stalks etc I.e. The bits of veg you pay for but usually throw away in a freezer bag in the freezer and when u have a large bag, add some veg stock, a pinch of chilli flakes, a knob of butter and some curry powder. Simmer in a pan and blend when softened.
