As does putting it in a bottle and shaking it hard for a bit. Aerates the water and helps the chlorine out I believe.0 -

I don't think that they use chlorine any more in water treatment. I think UV and Ozone are the preferable options now. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
Yesterday, I did my grocery shopping.
I had a list of needs. I looked on MY Supermarket - savvy buys and Tesco web page before I went.
By the time I was in the shop, I knew the best size and brand of each item to put in my trolly to get the most of my pennies. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
How many people just can't be bothered?
I have one of these living here. I sometimes think him indoors is in training and sometimes does well @ saving the pennies.
Perhaps sometimes I am the same?
Things always have an after affect...
Take the dog bowl. I left it soaking in the dish water last night. Oh is very good at washing up the soaking item.
last night he could not be bothered so this morning when the hungry dog was looking for her breakfast there was no clean bowl ;(
A knock on effect....
Soon washed it and piece reigned.
It is the same with toothpaste tubes...it is empty! have you cut it in half? no can't be bothered. Lets start a new one.
Its a world of choice.making the best of what we have before spending.
I am using up some shampoo/conditioner I do not really like. Sent to me to test. It does not lather up well but hay! it is free and cleans my hair.
Saving the pennies is not always the easy optionlets run to the shops and buy new instead;(

I do the same with my shopping. If you get the cheapest item from each store it all adds up.It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
The beach in Aberdeen is the best place for bargains - Asda, Aldi, £land, Iceland, Dunelm Mill and Home Bargains all in one retail park - the only thing they're missing is a farmfoods
The best thing is, if you go around 7pm, Aldi is still open and Asda start reducing all of their stuff massively.
Penny-saving tip: never throw away cheese. Grate it and freeze in portions.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. Check your grocery receipt!
I am having to go back to the shop today
I bought with YS shopping - Mozzarella, pecorino & provolone flatbreads with a big YS 56p. Receipt shows I paid full price of 2.25. Overcharged by 1.69.
Just returned from Tesco - the very nice lady said - it was there mistake to overcharge and I was to get double the difference back.
Refund 4.50.
Wile I was in the shop I picked up some colgate toothpaste.
The pump one 100ml 2 pounds for the cheapest. Looked at the Colgate tubes and picked up Colgate maxwhite shine 100ml 1.39.
Can you guess which went in my trolly? difference of 61p =saving the pennies.

I was terrible for buying magazines when I was younger, it cost me a fortune. It is possible to get magazines free.
Where?
Supermarkets - free - some fashion if they have a clothing range, recipes and money off vouchers
Boots - free with a Clubcard - articles, some fashion, sometimes a celeb article and vouchers
Stylist - free- handed out near train stations in larger cities (only Glasgow as far as I know in Scotland). Fashion, make-up, celebs, and sometimes a freebie (freebie last week was a sample of Clinique CC cream).
Shortlist - free - again handed out in larger cities. All about films and entertainment
Cinemas - free - some cinemas do a free magazine about up-coming films. Perfect to put in with a cinema voucher if you're giving it as a present.
If I come across anymore I'll post them.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Uniscot97 guilty of wasting the pennies here too!
I use to buy magazines and husband a daily paper. Then I changed to yearly subscriptions using Tesco club points.
When I had read them, I tried passing them on but none was ever passed back to me. So simply went in the recycle bin, Such a waste of pennies.
Now, i just pick up the FREE magazines. Tesco, Boots and superdrug etc...
We have the local FREE paper once a week. Occasionally the Metro.
I read the Daily Mail online. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0
