Do explain fay, I don't remember last year.

I've been AF again tonight so

    7AF please sparkles.

    Hey there Maman

Last year we had an 'afd' all together - from those in the deepest darkest south, to me up in Shetland for work, was sort of to get everyone on a alcohol free monday but as we were doing it together we'd all feel as if we were doing it 'together' for one night.

I think to be honest it was before the regular weekly/weekend challenges.

I just thought of it again, as I'm back up in Shetland on Monday night - complete with expense account and open bar - so for me its nice to think of everyone having an AFD together and I join in.

    Was just a thought.

Hello me darlings I had intended to take a longer break but I couldn't bear to see Sim struggling so badly so thought I'd best come back early. Sim, big hugs, I hope you're okAs for me, I had to go before as I cannot bear nastiness. I have no defence mechanism for it, never have & probably never will. I'm really sorry if anyone felt upset with me, I just had to do it. I haven't been AF in all the time I've been away, however I haven't been getting smashed all the time either. It's weird being on my own; what is hitting me is that I actually feel better being on my own than I did in my relationship. I find that incredibly sad & it's going to take some to adjust. Thanks for all the PMs, chaps. I will reply over the next few days. Your concern is really appreciated :)bearhugs to allxx

If it's next Monday, I'm up for it and I'll be competing for the most southerly (not quite IOW but not far).

Morning jo. Sparkly new day and all that. How much are you expected in work during holidays? Hope you're not going to be bored like at half term, because you know what boredom can lead to (as well as lots of eating junk that is:D). I think boredom can be one of the biggest barriers to AFness.

    So glad you're back HB:kisses3:

Hope everyone else is having a good day so far.
  • Cool lets set a date?

    Monday 26th July

I'll wave from the north - dashing out (at work!)

Sim....bad luck mate! But one silver-lining....if you're not working then you can still go for your DRO-if you are working I'd guess you would not be eligable....once the debts are sorted at least thats one more thing out of the way! Chin up!

Well, that sums me up pretty well too Sim. Hugs to you hun (((())))

HB, please don't disappear again :(

GG, yay :j so pleased to see you're 'back', if you get anywhere with the allergy thing, please let me know.

I royally fell off wagon last night....please see above comment from Sim

If I do nothing different today then I cannot expect tomorrow to change.
I was locked in this endlessly repetitive cycle of: drink, swear off drinking, feel better, feel that life was actually a bit flat without alcohol, feel like I 'deserved' a drink, then I would pick up a drink, swear off drinking, etc etc'

That would not have stopped for me if I hadn't changed myself.
Will power had no power where alcohol was concerned.
I had to take action, hoping that my problem would go was not sufficient.
I can look at my children and not think that I have let them down today by having a drink. I have not picked up something which is a poison to me. I have not damaged myself through my desire to drink. Hopefully I will see THEIR children born and will be a grandpa. Even though it is a long way off, me drinking reduces the chances of that happening.
I don't want that legacy of 'My dad was a drunk' - I have to take responsibility for my alcoholism and do something today that helps me not pick up that first drink. If I can do that today , and for today only, then today has been a success
