With respect, I used to hear things like this, all the time at AA.. and that's why I stopped going!
The vague and cliche - ridden AA'isms, that the guys at my local AA group rattle off verbatim, don't do anything to deal with the underlying issues do they? Possibly why I'm looking forward to the CBT.
I have some great friends at my local AA, but they are few and far between. Really struggle with the 12 - Steppers, to be honest Graeme, but obviously it's brilliant that it works for you.
Some of the guys at AA, I also find very sanctimonious, and I'm not sure I could handle them right now!
Thanks,
Sim.
hmm.
The 12 steppers were never really for me either ~ BUT I couldn't decry them something that seemed to work for them.
I am very much with you that the underlying issues are the problem. Drinking is a physical thing. I didn't drink yesterday. Or today.
That, by itself, is a small achievement really.
THe big change is that I don't feel a NEED to drink. I do suspect, deep down that there is a chance that if I had one drink, all bets would be off and suddenly drinking a bottle of spirits would seem like a great idea and I would seek to cast off all shackles in a bid to reclaim what my brain would claim is my right. (that came out a bit too quick!)
But I don't. I know my enemy. I keep him close and I remain, for now, my own friend.
The truth is, if I drank, I don't really know what would happen.
that is my truth.
I acknowledge my weakness. and in doing so, find my strength.
take care!

I really wanted this job, as I thought it'd be social / a way of getting out and about / driving again (I love, and miss driving), and if I'd put the hours in, fairly good money.
Have you considered van driver/delivery jobs? My mate does that (drives small vans/transits so I think just the regular driving licence is needed, no HGV licence). Probably no council checks either.0 -

Hiya
just popping in to declare18 for me please
Having spent the weekend on the SOS Bus, (as a volunteer honest) Am still feeling disorientated. working days then 2 nights then back to the day job I forgot how it can mess you up, body clock and stuff. Spent most of the day trying to figure out what day it was.
Luckily there was no call for my rather rusty first aid skills-a few cuts and bruises but several sprained ankles due to trying to walk in stiletto heals worst for wear. This I can say I've NEVER done. Am 6 foot tall and have been since I was 13 years old, Think I must be getting old its comfort over style for me every time:A
Can I ask what does ETA mean. Been meaning to ask for some time,I keep reading it but the penny has not dropped yet, its driving just a tad bonkers trying to work it out.
Hope all is well and Tuesday will be good to everyone
