It's as if I can't even be honest with the Council, or the Taxi firm, as it'll just trip me up and count for nothing!
Cheers,

I'm in no position to judge but drinking brings out the worst in more situations than some people would dare to admit.
PLEASE don't take this the wrong way but ask yourself "would I have been hurt if I'd been sober yesterday?".
From a partners point of view, a drinker can be incredibly frustrating. I know, I've been one and I was an absolute swine to be with. Yeah, we do still have the odd row but they don't really kick off like they used to when I drank.
If I F%%% up, it's me that's done it and I've enough bottle now to face up to it. And apologise. Somethimes even when I don't think I'm in the wrong. Life is easier when I don't drink.
take care.
Bis
Thanks Bis.
Fair point. Possibly, if I hadn't gone drinking, it wouldn't have happened. Perhaps, my Girlfriend wouldn't have got violent.
However, this has happened before. She hit me, when I hadn't even been drinking, about 2 months back. She also scrunched up my debit card at that time.
I do take it on the chin though, that I have been a nightmare to be around at times, mainly when I was boozing.
Glad to hear you and your partner, are ok now.
You take care too.
Cheers,

Some wise words on here last night, lovely to hear from you again Bismarck, hope things are all ok with you now..
Sim, sorry to hear about your lousy Friday/Saturday, hope things are clearer for you today, have you ever heard of something called 'self sabotage' sometimes people do this subconsciously when they are doing well as for some underlying reason part of them doesn't want to achieve what they set out to achieve (I read about it in relation to diets but it applies to any type of goal) I am probably making no sense but it sounds like you are sometimes doing really well like getting the job or starting your volunteering etc. and then something in you sabotages all your good intentions etc. really hope the job works out...
Went out last night with good friends as I am moving back down south next weekend, was a good night and I knew I would be drinking but I was really moderate and think because I stayed off the wine and had a good meal to start off with i feel fine this morning :j am looking forward to an af night tonight though !
Jo, with your allergy thing, maybe if you stay off the drink and your symptoms improve then whatever it is will be a great motivator to stay off the booze..good luck hun, we are all here and right behind you xxx
Got more packing to look forward to today but at least I havn't got to face it with a hangover like I thought I might be, dh is cooking breakfast soon to, sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms and tomatoes
catch you all later x
Hiya 69chick.
Self - sabotage? Oh yes. You make perfect sense.
What can I say? I'm f*cked up in many and varied ways
There was / is more to this though, as the issue here is that my mistakes in the past have decided my future.
No matter what I do - even if I'm 101% honest about my medical history / the booze / the depression and anxiety / on top of the CRB, then the Council won't even consider granting me a license anyway!
On a lighter note, glad to hear you had a good night out Saturday night, and you were able to drink in moderation.
Cheers,

I need to do something everyday to stay sober - it may only take a few minutes, and is often a pleasure. Just because I haven't had a drink for a while doesn't mean I can drink safely.
If I did nothing different, I would still be drinking. Will power is not enough for me
Hiya Graeme.
Fair enough regarding the above.
However, what do you actually mean?
Do what to stay sober? I don't think it's that easy.
With respect, I used to hear things like this, all the time at AA.. and that's why I stopped going!
The vague and cliche - ridden AA'isms, that the guys at my local AA group rattle off verbatim, don't do anything to deal with the underlying issues do they? Possibly why I'm looking forward to the CBT.
I have some great friends at my local AA, but they are few and far between. Really struggle with the 12 - Steppers, to be honest Graeme, but obviously it's brilliant that it works for you.
Some of the guys at AA, I also find very sanctimonious, and I'm not sure I could handle them right now!
Thanks,

Sim, angel, please take care of yourself. You can't change the past, what you've done etc & yes, it may come back up to haunt you. But people do move on from these things. Please don't let it drag you back down there
I don't know what may help you as regards staying sober etc, I guess everyone is different & has different triggers. Ulitmately I suppose being sober & staying alive & having a live is the trigger
I hope you find a way to get through this

I really wanted this job, as I thought it'd be social / a way of getting out and about / driving again (I love, and miss driving), and if I'd put the hours in, fairly good money.
Now I can't even go for it. I'm starting to feel unemployable, and a complete f8cking waster p*sshead. I want to work, and don't know how to do it without my past screwing things up every time.
Sim
You are not a waster, you want to work which is always a good thing.
Everyone has a past, but its the future that counts.
I know it will seem hard at the moment but things will get better.
You have done really well staying sober and although it may take time Im sure you will find something.
take care
