As its a criminal matter , it is for the CPS to decide whether to press charges. They will ask OP whether he wants this in order to understand the likelihood of him follwoing it all the way and turning up in court as a witness. Yes, which obviously isn't the same as saying "I hope you set her on fire" if that is what you are trying to imply.
