Laser mole removal?

I have a mole on my back which my GP told me today may be a melanoma or may just be infected (scare-mongerer much?!). I have to go back to the clinic next week for a check-up and I was wondering whether he might be persuaded to remove it so that the confusion doesn't occur again if it is just an infection. Think I could get the removal done on the NHS in this case?
Don't think I can put up with my mother wailing on about cancer for another seven days =P

I was advised to keep out of the sun but most of my moles were on my arms and legs and obviously because of the appalling summer we had - keeping out of the sun wasn't a problem - it takes longer to heal if you don't allow air to them though so i spent all my time indoors in shorts and a vest and just prayed noone would come to the door :-)
The ones on my neck - about 9 of them - had totally dissapeard without a trace within a week so i just kept a bit of sun block on them0 -
I have been thinking of having some moles removed since June 08 and have just been putting it off. I have the odd one on my neck and arm and a couple on my face. I decided, I either booked myself in, or I wouldn't have it done at all, so I booked myself in for treatment next week.
Although I'm still debating whether to have all of the moles removed, or all of the moles other than the ones on my face (as a little test) and then have the ones on my face removed depending on the results. All my moles are flat, and from reading previous posts it appears that the best results come from raised moles.
I will have 16 days off after the treatment before I start a new job, so hopefully they can recover well in the short term, in the longer term, ideally I want them all so there is no noticable mark. I will just have to speak to the doctor on the day and see if he can convince me to go for the lot! (If they offered a guarantee that they would all heal with no scar/mark I'd be really convinced)
Will let you know how it goes.0 -

I hated my moles so much that i got cream stuff from a mole removal site
www.wortmolevanish.com
and it looked like it was a good product but reall didnt work for me, im really upset with the reults as its left me with unsightly red marks in the shape of my mole, and cant even be covered by any make up. As a cause of this, i never show my legs because i hate them, at least before you could tell they were moles, now they are horrible blotches on my skin. I am so embarresed about this mistake and think if i go for doctors help they will be unwilling to empathise as it is a product from the internet. Im only a student so dont have money for laser treatment ect. Just wondered if anyone had the same problem and what they did about it. Thanks

I have been to the clinic and decided to have 3 moles removed. The doctor was really friendly and gave lots of advice and reassurance. Bearing in mind I booked a consultation and surgery on the same day I was not put off from having my moles removed (although I decided against having them removed from my face this time).
I will be honest, I was really scared before the procedure, and whilst having the first one removed, however, I could only feel the local anesthetic and nothing else. Although it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, and so If I return I would have no problems. (There is a smell given off from the procedure, however, I had the option to wear a mask [which I wore])
My uncle did accompany me to the clinic (I would recommend taking someone because I was a little dizzy aftwerwards, only for a few minutes, but it may have just been me) and he watched the first mole being removed. After we left the clinc he told me that he was suprised that there wasn't a hole/much skin removed and it was more like a graze when you knock into something sharp, and there was a small amount of blood too.
I have been given advice on what to do now for the next 2 weeks, by this time the scab should fall off. Hopefully with 100% success!
I can keep you all updated on this. They gave me a family and friend recommendation voucher, which will entitle you to £20 off your first treatment, so if anybody is interested I could always pass this on.0 -
Many many thanks for keeping us updated. I hope it all goes well for you.
