approxmately how much was it? (if i may ask :S)

and how long is the redness meant to stay?

and can you get it for the face/
  • Radio cost £300 for first mole then £50 for any more that you have if they are doing 20 or more (£75 each for less than that)
Laser is £150 per 15 minutes.
Had one taken off my face - you cannot tell where it was now.
    Good luck!

Can I ask you where you had this procedure done?

    Thanks.

I'd also be interested in knowing where you had it done, Boris.

I'm off to the Mole Clinic in the morning for an all over check, but I have two moles which definitely need removing due to irritation.

Does mole removal hurt.. I mean, a lot?

I've had a couple cut off, and I'd say no, not if they give you enough local anaesthetic! Once that was sorted, it was fine.

Arrogant doctors who tell you it SHOULDN'T be hurting when it plainly is should have some part of their anatomy removed without adequate pain relief!
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • I wouldn't recommend Dermatend, not because I have used it, on the contrary it appears that it can worlk very well, but I have read that it contains bloodroot. Google it and you'll see the bad results it can get. They even said it could cure cancer how bad is that!

:jI used Mole & Wart EZ Clear which is herbal but its ingredients don't include bloodroot. It is a once only application too which is good. It only took about 25 minutes to completely remove my moles and boy did I have a few!
The scabs took a little longer to go but I am really pleased with the results.

The problem with laser surgery is if you can get it. I obviously went to my doctor about my moles some years ago and he would not refer me to anyone to get them removed. He told me they don't do it because they would scar (which they haven't). The next step for me was private, but of course that is megga expensive if you want to remove more than one mole as I did. Not only that it is the whole appointment thing that gets me down. - and you can never really know how good the person doing the treatment is. At least if your own doctor did it you would know how good they were. (or have a good guess at least).
  • Background:
I had a mole on my back removed (by incision) on the NHS which left a stretched scar, but otherwise was fine, and went pretty well.
The next one was flat and I wanted rid of just because I'd feel better without it. I read on the SKN website that they offered the laser treatment, so I booked in for a consultation.

    First appointment at the clinic:
They told me it could be removed by either incision or laser. I much preferred the laser option, since this was a flat mole. It turned out that they didn't have the laser at that clinic, so I would have to book (and pay for) another consultation at a different clinic.
    This cost £90.

Second appointment at different clinic (the one that does have the laser):
This time £120 for 10minute consultation. Yes, they have a laser, no they would prefer not to use it, yes they recommend incision. As I said on the phone in the first place I wanted the laser treatment as shown on their website for this exact type of mole, why pay all of this money and get a stretch scar (the location of the mole was in a part of the skin which stretches all of the time).
    £120 for consultation + £500 for laser.

    Overall:
The laser treatment seemed to go well, I don't have any complaints about the procedure, and I'd still recommend it for flat moles. However, they didn't remove all of the pigmentation, a few months later I can see where the lasered properly (no signs of it left) and strips where it was not lasered thoroughly enough.
Overall cost: £710 for 1cm x 1cm flat mole. Advertised as 'from £349' on their website. This mole couldn't have been more straight forward so I don't see why it should cost twice as much as advertised.

Laser quite good, results worse than expected. Prices unfair - forcing me to pay for two consulations is unreasonable. I'd recommend avoiding them. I read there is a clinic in Nottingham that does they new kind of laser, so I'd travel there instead if I was to get any more done.

    Phone service:
Poor. Didn't tell me there was no laser at my nearest clinic before booking me an appointment. Didn't tell me I'd have to book a second consultation because of this. Generally sounded unmotivated and not particularly helpful. I doubt the phone operator will see much of my £710 mind you.

    Email service:
No response from the enquiry form I sent in before I called the first time.

If you are thinking of getting a similar mole removed, you can see a similar before pic here: I expected it to turn out like white scarring, like a cigarette burn, but if you ask me they haven't spent long enough on it, and there is still dark pigmentation there.

  • I had two raised moles on my face cut down, which just left much smaller moles, and one one my chest was frozen and then removed, but that one left me with a small indentation scar. They were done at GPs by a dermatologist.

Going back 10 years now I had some flesh coloured moles on my face which really bothered me. I saw my GP about getting them removed and despite her laughing at me and saying that they weren't noticeable, she referred me to a private laser clinic. I almost didn't go for the appointment because I knew I couldn't afford the treatment but when I asked the cost I was told that the bill would be forwarded to the NHS

I had five moles removed and in all honesty it was horrible. The laser treatment itself wasn't too bad but the aftercare wasn't pleasant. Several times a day I had to wipe the wounds with white vinegar to take away the new skin, otherwise it could leave a raised scar. After wiping with vinegar I had to apply a layer of Vaseline. They looked really horrible, wouldn't have been so bad if they'd been on a part of my body which could be hidden and I had to do this for a week or two until the surgeon felt that they were ready to heal. I had to have check ups every few days to see how they were doing and as the clinic was 30 miles away it was a bit of a nuisance.
But....after all of that, they grew back  Not as big and noticeable as before, but still....

A year or two later I decided that I wanted them removing again. No luck getting them done on the NHS this time but instead I went to a clinic at a private hospital and had them frozen off - this was a much better experience, and much more successful. Even if offered I'd have been reluctant to have had laser treatment again.
