Laser mole removal?

I'm pleased to report....IT WORKS!
Couldn't believe it! I have a raised mole on my forehead above my eyebrow and used a combination of garlic slivers - organic mind! and cider vinegar using a qtip/cotton tip.
See info here:
http://blog.dermatend.net/
I used the instructions provided by Dermatend - just used garlic and cider vinegar instead of the dermatend. They don't seem to advise to pumice it nowthough rather use a sterile toothpick...
http://www.find-cures.com/instructions.html
Now the first time I did it I didn't really open up the mole enough, scratched it with a needle, but I could see that the mole had signigicantly reduced!
The trick is to open the mole up as much as possible so the juice can get into the mole and break it down. Be careful to put vaseline around the mole (with a qtip) so that you don't burn the skin around the mole. You should also make sure you cut the garlic sliver down to fit only the mole - I got a bit slapdash and whacked the whole garlic sliver on my mole and it burnt the surrounding skin and I thought I was scarred for life! Luckily after a day it scabbed over and all was fine...I waited for a couple of days for it to heal a bit and did the treatment again.
This time I used a sterile toothpick and scratched the surface - pin pricked it a bit etc - there was a little blood and kept reapplying garlic and cider vingear (separately). I kept reapplying as soon as the sting was gone. I also used a plaster to hold the garlic in place. It has scabbed over now and I can see that it is pretty much flat!! I'll wait till it heals properly before I can see for sure. If there is anything left, I'll do it again in a few weeks time, though I don't think I'll need to!! Whatever you do DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH THE SCAB, IT MUST FALL OFF OF IT'S OWN ACCORD. This will signigicantly help reduce it's scarring. I didn't bother putting a plaster on it though while it heals, but if you are one of these people who can't resist picking then cover it up!
Can't believe it, have just saved myself £300 plus the extra £25 for Dermatend (I guess I could always re-sell it on ebay). Plus there is no scarring it just heals over like a normal scab. I am using bio-oil 3 times a day on the scab, rubbing it in as soon as the scab formed.
I am of course only describing my own personal experience and this of course does not constitute medical advice!
Hope this helps! Still can't believe it I 've had this mole for years and never really liked it but always thought it would scar so never did anything about it!0 -
Sorry to hijak your thread, I felt it better to reply in here seeing as my question is mole related.
Whilst I wait to get an appointment with my doctor, has anyone had laser treatment ? Are there any specific sizes of moles that they will not use laser as a method ?
I have had an underarm mole removed surgically years ago, I now want ones from my back removed...one is being rubbed by my bra strap and is a little annoying, the others I just want remove because I feel uneasy if I'm ever out in the sun.
I don't really fancy a back full of injections and really want to know what my chances are of getting them all done by laser :SNo person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow. :kisses2:0 -
I have a large mole (assume it is) as it has always been right on the side of nose but it is skin coloured so it looks and feels like a large lump. Any advice on this and getting it removed.0

Whatever you do go and see your GP first, in case it is cancerous etc.0

Not moles, but warts. My youngest ( aged 9 then) son had 12 removed from his face in Nottingham,at a cost of 900 pounds. Some of them have returned, but as a wart is a virus and a mole is not(is it?) that may be why. There was no scarring at all and the procedure was not painful. I would certainly give it a try if I had a mole that was bothering me,get it checked out by your GP first though before having it lasered just to be safe.
The doctor was very professional and nice, and the clinic was busy.0 -
I went to see a consultant yesterday about a few on my face. He told me that if I wanted them removed for cosmetic purposes then he wasn't keen because the NHS will remove them by cutting them off and leaving scarring. He said the only way to avoid scarring is to use a laser, but the NHS does not have the technology at the moment because it's very expensive and is still in it's developing stages, and that it will be another 5 or so years until they do start using laser mole removal routinely. Basically he was saying that if I wanted them taken off this way then I would either have to wait 5 years, in which time they would grow larger, or have them removed privately which i understand has costs of around £120 per mole removal, not including the consultancy fees and the aftercare.0

I've had a couple of large ones removed from other parts of my anatomy, but they were in awkward places and kept being rubbed or caught so they bled. They weren't growing as such.
Can't comment on laser removal because they were cut out and the scars are not on view to the general public so I didn't care!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I had a mole removed, well scraped off. They froze it but i was not under anastetic. And i have a scar, it was on the front of my forehead the middle. And i got teased for it so it made me self concious. And its like a little lump now, and a fag burn scar. And i have a fringe to cover it as i canot stand the scar, but id rather have that then a mole. I also have one on my chin i want to remove by laser surgery im hoping when i can afford it.0

I have just had 167 moles removed from all over my body.
I had all different types so the clinic used two different types of removal. For the "raised and sort of hanging on a thread" ones they used radio laser removal. THis was for 41 of them. You have to have an anaesthetic for each one and it took about 3 hours. THe ones on my neck healed withiut a trace within 2 weeks - its been 6 weeks now and all the others are still quite red. The main bulk of them were small and dark or flat ones - these are removed by a laser - it feels a bit like a bee sting. I had all the laser ones done in one sitting - it took about 40 minutes - they all still have a long way to go as they are quite red - I have to go back in 2 weeks for another session on them.
I am going to try bio oil - i think it may help with the redness.
I would recommend getting moles removed to anyone!0
